Burials holding mummies with false heads have been discovered from the Wari Empire in Peru. Archaeologists in Peru have unearthed the burials of at least 73 people dating to around 1,000 years ago, a few hundred years before the Inca took over parts of western South America. ...
Happily installing #Debian#Linux on an old #mac and replacing #MacOS. My current M1 is awesome, but any time I need to deal with anything touching the amd64 architecture, it slows to a crawl and is unuseable.
Edit: and I can't find a mouse with a cable, so now my new #Debian install is useless because #KDE Plasma requires the mouse in order to set up Bluetooth :(
How might conservation become a means to marginalize vulnerable populations? And how might conservation serve as a method for informal urbanization? Published last year with the JRAI.

I show how emergent ethics of conservation in #Lima become enmeshed with discourses on informality — contemporary concerns about species and ecosystem #endangerment in Lima, #Peru, fold into understandings of informality as a threat to the city. (2/5)
“In an era where the term “burka” evokes images of oppressive regimes, notably Afghanistan's coercive imposition on women, it may come as a surprise that the tapada limeña (meaning “the covered one from Lima”) was used as a cloak of female resistance to authority by the women of Lima for over three hundred years…....
It came to my mind today that maybe #limahttps://github.com/lima-vm/lima can replace some of my #vagrant use-cases. Sure, it does not have the same focus, but since I anyway had been using vagrant with libvirt (no vmware or vbox), it's running qemu anyway. Getting a basic box running seems easy enough, but the lima cli seems a bit counter intuitive to me. Difference seems to be that vagrant has more rules on how the box is built while lima seems to use cloud-init for user setup. Less lock-in, I guess.
As hopelessness grips the majority of humanity, the youth in France have chosen to fight back sparking riots that have shutdown the country. Meanwhile in Peru, protestors calling for the resignation of President Dina Boluarte have descended on Lima.
For #TravelThursday here's the Love Park in Miraflores, Lima, Peru. Miraflores has a number of interesting parks but this one has one of the best views out to sea from the high cliffs of the city. There's a sculpture in the park called The Kiss that's popular for wedding photos and on Valentine's Day, and it, like some mosaics here, have Paracas and Ica tribal influences.
Il libro è un affascinante resoconto del viaggio compiuto da New York a Buenos Aires con mezzi di trasporto pubblico di superficie. Un lungo viaggio pieno di colori, profumi, incontri, qualche pericolo.
Sorry I missed all this, Nathan! Still need to get better at not missing things on Mastodon..
Was actually trying to find out whether the call for panels or papers for #Pollen24 was open yet - I just went on the website but can't see anything yet. Such a great format to have it in #Lund, #Dodoma and #Lima all at once! #PoliticalEcology
