Asher slept in his #Chinese#kitty#cat cape. He's wanting his breakfast, now. I talk to him, mostly in #Teochew - he understands it & he understands English, just as well.
My Mom's Vietnamese tailor friend, who lives a few blocks away from us, is going to alter Asher's leather jacket for me. She has advanced tailoring skills & used to own a sewing school & tailor shop in Saigon before war destroyed everything. I know she will do a great job.
My family knows her & her family from our past Saigon life. Her shop was in Cholon district - where we lived with most of Dad's family & where we owned a big incense factory.
@msquebanh Oh, I miss the tailoring tradition in #ViệtNam, where I could get anything and everything custom-made! More importantly, I connected with 2 different women who learned tailoring when they were young and they were able and willing to teach me so much about #sewing. That's currently my primary interest and activity and I've been able to find a great selection of #thrifted fabric, allowing me to break away from #FastFashion. Cute jacket.
@msquebanh the tailoring skills there are fantastic. I enjoyed watching as many friends would have a suit made for any occasion. One man traveled home dressed as an elf to see his new niece at Christmas. A woman wore a different outfit every day for work.
Did more #LeashTraining with Asher, indoors😸
He prefers this #cat vest over the 2 harness systems that I've tried out with him. Asher is comfy wearing this & that makes walking with him easier. Mom & I are taking him to the park next week; when I'm feeling better/stronger.
@msquebanh this reminds us of a cat we used to live with. his name was royal and he would let us put him on leash and walk around the house with him all day. we miss him now. love that there are other people who do this.
