I have read Nnedi Okorafor's novella, Binti, and I found it wonderful (as well as very entertaining). Also, with a witty reflection on the decolonization of museums.
and ... it's a bit slow paced for my liking. Stuff has happened but I'm on chapter 14 and the story still hasn't got going yet. The main character wants to be trained by a sorcerer who refuses to teach her. But she keeps going to him to be refused.
I don't know how many times I need to read the same thing.
Also she can turn into animals and it feels a little bit like young adult #fiction. As far as I know it's a book for adults.
