1/ A single yellow faded and warped hope poster sitting discarded on the dingy floor of a vacant store. The window I viewed it through covered in the dried dirty tears of the previous day’s heavy rain.
Looking Up is a sculpture by Tom Friedman. It’s in Council Bluffs, #Iowa at the east end of the Bob Kerrey pedestrian bridge. This photo shows #Omaha, #Nebraska in the distance. If you ever visit, check out this artwork. It was modeled with pieces of leftover aluminum pans. Walking around the statue and staring up at it is a complete joy.

#Omaha and western #Iowa have been pummeled by #tornadoes tonight. I am no longer leading my team, but I've been in touch with them and they are ready to respond. #newx#iawx
“There was only the enormous, empty prairie, with grasses blowing in waves of light and shadow across it, and the great blue sky above it, and birds flying up from it and singing with joy because the sun was rising. . .” —Laura Ingalls Wilder
🌞 ☀️ first outdoor run since Jan 3rd now that the snow is gone — and 60*F! Holding onto that San Diego of the B1G Ten title for one last year! #Omaha#thegoodlife 🏃♂️
The #Winnebago#Tribe of #Nebraska stands to receive 1,600 acres of land that was taken a half century ago for a recreation area that never materialized.
The land, on the Iowa side of the #MissouriRiver would be returned under a bill introduced recently in the #USSenate by U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer & her fellow #Iowa & Nebraska senators — Pete Ricketts, Chuck Grassley & Joni Ernst.
Random beautiful fall afternoon thought: Omaha hype is high lately - tech scene - city growth - airport expansion - streetcar line going in - metro at 1.1 mill and growing --- going to be a handful of remote-work centers in this next century --- so don't sleep on Omaha!
