Morning Folks! A while back I saw someone on the Fediverse talking about an alternative to GOG Galaxy that gave you access to all of your games regardless of launcher through a single interface. Yesterday I finally got around to installing and this morning I talked about my experience so far.

I have to say it is pretty slick and takes up a negligible amount of system resources.

Yet another reason why I prefer Playnite over GoG Galaxy 2.0

Playnite has more libraries synced, btw.

WOW

You can NOT press the "Play" button for custom games in GoG Galaxy, if the GoG servers are offline.

What the actual flying fuck?! :blobcatdizzy:

Another reason to fully swap over to Playnite :blobcatthink:

Edit:
Apparently the buttons work after a while.
It's still a bad experience and not acceptable.
The servers are not needed for 3rd party offline games, at all.

Playnite is pretty neat.
I love to see statistics based on my whole game catalogue like that, even if I have to set some values, manually.
Even better: It's open source.

The only things I don't like, so far:
It does not support the PlayStation library.
It does not show my online friends from Steam and XBox directly in the application.
There is no indicator for how many games match the current filter.

Also the Battle.net plugin needs the login credentials after every restart of the application or longer periods of being idle.
But that's Blizzard's fault.
It's the same for the GoG Galaxy 2.0 plugin.

I have setup how I want it on my now!

Game tabs for Installed, Backlog, and Recently Added, as well as tabs for each of the stores/launchers. And then when you select a game, the trailer is fetched from (regardless of whether the game originates from Steam or not) and is automatically played.

It updates on launch and downloads meta data automatically as well, so allowing for minor tweaks occassionally, it's pretty seemless!

Video showing my Playnite Fullscreen setup on my ROG Ally. It shows the different categories in a tabbed system along the middle. At the bottom it shows the games for the selected tab, and at the top it shows artwork for the game. When you select a game, it shows the trailer for that game.

Over the past couple of days, I’ve spent much longer than I care to admit setting up on my and .

Making sure I’ve got lots of great filters and artwork with correct resolutions, with a great fullscreen theme and automatic trailer playback on a selected game.

My backlog has never looked so good. 😅

I should check my , although I believe it would be inconsistent as it didn't track all the time spent playing outside of it, like emulators and other platforms.

, recap addon soon pretty pls?

I've just only discovered that there's an extension to import howlongtobeat.com data into .

If it works -- downloading all the data for colossal backlog's gonna take a while, so I can't test yet -- it'll be amazing, given my current time constraints.

Psst! You can go here for "official" Super #Mario Bros DX images and logos for making box art to use in various #emulators and launchers. Anniversary Edition and #Aesthetic Edition variants are included!

Good Morning Fediverse, wanted to post a lil fun thing for today that might help peeps! For those struggling with all the Launchers on PC Nowadays, I cannot recommned the Open Source Playnite Project Enough!

Syncs EVERYTHING together, lets you setup the library and metadata however you want and it just works really well, genuinely couldn't fault it if you have games all over the place! Even tracks playtime and such for non launcher games!

Adding web games to Playnite

Like any sensible Windows user with a hoard of different competing games store launchers, emulated games and manually installed games littering his hard drive, I use Playnite. Which is probably the best integrated games launcher there is.
