The name of Captain Pike's childhood pony, Sir Neighs-a-Lot, sounds like a My Little Pony name. 😹

This is classic Star Trek comedy hijinks, but does it work or fall flat?

As an FYI for my fellow . Volante Design has their Season 2 Enterprise-inspired jackets available again and on sale.

https://www.volantedesign.us/collections/2257-pike-jacket?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Rare%20Finds%20Part%20I%20%282023-11-27%29&utm_id=01HG8FADHREKF1YYPV87K2Q5KD&utm_term=01G8BHA2YZ4QXWEJZMYMRS56R1&utm_content=2257%20Pike%20Jacket&_kx=Tff4xtbI6hHn0J5KuEuGxbJZhm9hEgSBb5T6ZgBYq2M%3D.UrwPmi

Still pricey, but I can confirm that their stuff is very nice, I have their Monster Maroon-inspired coat in blue and love it. I'm also currently trying to figure out if I can justify getting myself one right now

Here's what I did with my weekend. Still some finishing to do tomorrow, but it's coming together.

I'm really pleased with how the laser etching came out on the sleeves and shoulders (it took a lot of work, please clap).

A few songs from Subspace Rhapsody have been coming up while I’m working out tonight and damn that was a good episode with some damn delightful songs.

Late to yesterday’s cutest celeb party. Might even be doing it wrong as I was gonna name some outstanding men who, in their prime, defo made the cut: Gregory Peck (and his yummy grandson Ethan Peck), Harrison Ford ca. Blade Runner, and the very distinguished Sean Connery in his Bond years.
For women of hotness, someone on the recently mentioned Elizabeth Debecki - yeah! Stunning. And Rebecca Ferguson from Silo. And probably Jess Bush

"How Would That Feel" is definitely my favorite song from the soundtrack.

"It might be time to change my paradigm,
If only I can let go of the wheel,
My fear replaced with total faith,
I'm fiercely free and really real,
Flying blind,
How would that feel?"

A gif of La'an singing "How Would That Feel" from the Strange New Worlds episode "Subspace Rhapsody". She is looking out one of Enterprise windows as she sings. The scene then changes to a slow zoom-out shot of the Enterprise from the front right.

Should have photos and one up on my shop tomorrow. Two shown have front compartments, one does not. And the 'no paint' build now has paint. I just couldn't abide the screen/dial plates as they were.

Trust me, no one's more surprised than I am, but I made this from start to finish: 3D model, print, assembly. In two days. There's no paint, and they only additional parts are the strap and the brass rod which I probably won't do in future versions.
To say that I'm happy with this is a huge understatement.

Name a character you hope to see in Season 3.

I'll start....George Kirk.

Inspired by @jordanlafordan's post...

My favorite season 2 of episodes:

  1. Subspace Rhapsody
  2. Those Old Scientists
  3. Charades
  4. Ad Astra per Aspera

The one thing that disappointed me in season 2, was the Christine Chapel / Spock arc.

First they are pining for each other for ages, then finally they get together, but we never really see another scene with them, before two episodes later their relationship already starts falling apart and not much later ends unceremoniously for pretty weak reasons? What was going on there? Did I miss something?

I really enjoyed the Strange New Worlds finale, but oh man when they had the narration talk about the colonists "choosing a colony in the style of a Midwestern Town in the United States," I fucking CACKLED.

"The colonists chose a completely impractical model for civilization, but it happens to closely resemble a cheap filming location, so that's nice."
