I'm trying out ProtonMail!

The price is super reasonable, and I'm happy to pay rather than be surveiled.

Migrating my emails from gmail and configuring my custom domain was easy.

I missed having separate sections for unread and read emails, so I wrote a tampermonkey script to add that! It's available at https://codeberg.org/danvolchek/browser-scripts 😎

Next up is importing my calendar!

@error_500 @danvolchek This case shows that Proton's encryption provides privacy by default: despite the legal request, we were not able to share any of the user's encrypted data. Due to the zero-access encryption we use, the user's emails, attachments, etc. remain inaccessible to us, so we cannot share them with third parties even if we want to.

We protect users data not by refusing to comply to legal request (no legal company can do that), but by not having access to the users' data.

a while i go i asked why video controls looked so terrible in mastodon, and it turned out it was my "Video Speed Controller" plugin, which looks great everywhere EXCEPT mastodon. 🤷‍♀️

So, since i was already fixing things with I figured I'd fix this too.

If any other people are using this plugin & want the fix, just holler. ;)

a screenshot of the same toot, but now there's a huge black border to the top and the left of the video. In the left border the same controls are visible. It looks terrible.

Anyone know a more private way of using whatsapp.

The default whatsapp has inbuilt trackers and requires a lot of permissions. (google analytics)

Any way to run maybe whatsapp web in the browser (maybe using tampermonkey)?

Omnisearch ? In MY browser ? It's more likely than you think.

Also probably more janky than you think, but hey, it works. Mostly.

Omnisearch has been updated to 1.18.0 and now includes an opt-in http server to query the API.

You can inject your results into Kagi (https://github.com/scambier/userscripts/raw/master/dist/obsidian-omnisearch-kagi.user.js) or Google (https://github.com/scambier/userscripts/raw/master/dist/obsidian-omnisearch-google.user.js)

Figured out a way to make by @rolle compatible on on for any instance!

Instructions:

  1. Install the approved extension from the Firefox addon menu.
  2. Add the extension from here https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/470753-mastodon-birdui-style-override

There may be better ways to do this but it seems to work fine. Let me know if I messed something up... 😅
Added Universeodon and Mastodon dot Social for now but easy to add more.
