#WhatcomCounty, (where I live) is studying whether our cities have enough room in their Urban Growth Areas to accommodate future population growth, and my eyes are glazing over trying to read this document called "Whatcom County Land Capacity Analysis For Permanent Housing and Employment Needs"...
Instead my mind keeps wandering back to this map I made comparing the city of #BellinghamWA (population 90k) with #Zurich (population 400k) which have the same land area:

‘Ascension’ is the first ICM photo I’ve taken that I was thrilled with. I was out taking sunset photos but the sky wasn’t quite what I wanted, so I started to experiment with the setting sun’s reflection over Bellingham Bay. When I saw I could create this beam of light, I got super excited! I played around some more with positioning the beam until I found this shot.

Here in #whatcomcounty , the #Lummi nation is in an area that’s prone to flooding (and most certainly exacerbated by climate change). Why are indigenous American communities most affected by #climatechange ?
Whatcom falls was flowing today. Hadn’t been in a few months but glad I came here with a new friend. I met Mark at a cafe I frequent and he asked to come along on one of my photo adventures. We ended up spending 4+ hours taking photos and talking photography. He’s more of a videographer and was wanting to learn some photography from me. Happy to share!
I do love how ICM has given me another 'tool in my box' to play around with whenever I go out. I came here for the sunset with my sister and while it was a pretty sunset... it wasn't quite what I wanted for long exposures or 'normal' photos. I got a couple that I live of both of those but I decided to take some ICM photos as well. I do need to remember to bring my ND filter (puts filter in camera bag and comes back) with me. I have my LEE filters system but its a 10stop filter, which is way too dark for this. Luckily I kept my 'old & cheap' ND filters I had bought at the famous (in Beijing) Wukesong camera market. Man I miss that place...

Early bike ride to Lake Padden this morning for sunrise. Wasn't quite feeling the long exposure would do much. So I decided to snap some ICM photos in between taking photos of the fog. I mostly came to the lake to check the autumn colors and some peace. Happy to get one of those! Looking forward to finding the other soon!
UPDATE: my mistake, they weren't dumping fuel, they were just burning it off. That's the whole point why they had to circle for two hours, since that aircraft has no capability to dump. 🫢
I've been playing around with ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) since I saw a number of photographers posting them on their feeds. I really liked how you could create textures with movement. Something about them seemed to resonate with what I was feeling when I'd take photos. I'm still in the starting stages of this but it has been fun to experiment. These images were from yesterday morning when I wasn't feeling the long exposures I was trying to make
Good morning… I’ve been thinking of getting some action figures to bring along on my morning adventures but part of me wonders if the battles I’d depict are just the voices in my head fighting it out. Maybe start with my lens ball and see where I go from there (;
