"#Huisdieren, ze hielpen ons door de #coronaperiode. Maar nu we weer druk zijn met andere dingen worden ze afgedankt. En massaal gedumpt. #Dierenasiels en andere opvangcentra kunnen de aanwas amper aan en luiden de noodklok."
Een schrijnende reportage. 💔
Pleidooi voor betere wet- en regelgeving, en een oproep aan ons voorzichtig te zijn: "Het zijn levende individuen die afhankelijk zijn van ons".
Good morning and Happy #Caturday everyone. Laurie & Meggie send lots of luv & purrs to you all. Meggie says it's been too cold this week for her to get up & strike a pose for the camera, but Laurie doesn't seem to mind the cold as much (although he's made sure that he's been coming in regularly to warm up on his heated pad).
Because of changing life circumstances (my partner going into assisted living, me moving to a new apartment) we're needing to re-home our 2 dogs.
This is really, really hard. Luckily one of them is going back to my GF's ex-husband (which is an excellent thing) but I need to find a new home for Bella.
Some dogs get so stressed out at the shelter they're really not at their best when people come to see them. And why wouldn't they be? I get stressed out at the shelter and I don't have to live there.
But unfortunately it makes it hard for some great dogs to find a home. And there are a lot of great dogs that need homes. And some of them are going to end up being killed.
Good morning & Happy #Caturday everyone.
Luv and Purrs from Meggie & Laurie, & Hugs from me.
Here's Meggie getting high on catnip. She holds her catnip mouse in her paws, licks it thoroughly, & rubs it all over her face & head to get as much benefit as she can - & repeats the process until she's completely 'high'.
Do your research! And if you decide you are ready to add bunnies to your life, #AdoptDontShop There are so many abandoned Easter bunnies in rescues. Give a couple of them a good forever home 💜
Last Friday I drove Bella way the heck up in Vermont (almost to Burlington!) to meet her new pack... the husband is a horse vet, wife runs the business, and they LOVE rescue dogs. They had a pack of 4 and one died of cancer this summer, but as soon as they heard about Bella they said "we really think she's right for our pack."
It’s a crapshoot, you don’t know who did what to screw them up, and finding out can be all of the things. But they can be reached and will give it all back.😊
Daph, this one, came fairly well-adjusted. She and our gray cat ChiChi might just get married. They are a mushy pair.🥰
Her pink nostrils!😳
Hutch is wonderful at home, but has so many unknown deep issues we’re working through, it’ll take him a good while longer to not fear the world. Best boy! #dogs
