New Orleans stale beer signs volume II, Regal edition. (Regal was brewed by American Brewing Company on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter c 1891-1961)
Elizabeth's Restaurant, Bywater (old signage since restored)
I could not wait any longer and cracked open a bottle of the Motueka Single Hop IPA. This is a pretty damn tasty beer. Apricot and peaches with a nice late hitting bitterness. This beer should get even better with a couple more weeks of bottle conditioning. Cent'anni y'all! #homebrewing#homebrew#beer
I see a couple of Ottawa hits among the 2024 World Beer Cup winners:
Tooth & Nail Brewing has a saison-style beer called "Valor" that picked up a gold for that category.
Also local Flora Hall Brewing picked up a silver for their "English Ordinary Bitter." Notable in a contest with global participation.
I'm a fan of both of those styles, so hope to try them over the course of the summer if they keep making them. I frequent T&N but have yet to try Flora Hall's wares.
I've been waiting to write my first toot on beige.party until I had something important enough to share. I have now found that important information. You're welcome. #beer#hacking#science#brewing#themoreyouknow
What we didn't discuss in our blog post about video games in pubs was how bars with arcade machines seem now to occupy a viable niche. Bristol has several. Discussing this evening, we wondered if the appeal is that they aren't just about booze, so more inclusive for after work hangouts.
Review time!
A very lemony, full bodied Radler++ Wit, a timid yet true to style dry, phenolic saison, a sweet full bodied, candied fruit and roasty Scotch ale and a very black, coffee, chokotoff-y leather-like stout with a sharp alcoholic finish. 🍻 #craftbeer#beer#BeerReview@beersofmastodon
Oatmeal chocolate chip raisin cookies out of the oven. Made with my chocolate oatmeal raisin stout. Not pretty, but really taste good. Not very sweet but the stout and chocolate come out.
So I had it. Good beer - very much unlike the standard "Vienna Malt".
It was rather bitter, slight lemon/pithy edge to the bitterness, not overly lingering malt flavour, but it had the usual slightly medicinal element that Czech Lagers have, likely because they didn't change from their house Yeast / brewing/lager process.
I was really surprised by the colour profile, when I read your book in ~2019. So it was great to finally see it and try it in person.
The weekend is a good time to hoist a cold one. And maybe even an old, cold one. From ancient Egypt to Roman Britain, brewers are reviving beers from the past. "Recreating ancient beers allows us to touch and taste history. It humanises our ancestors and makes us realise that we are not so different," says Travis Rupp, who combines teaching Classics and Anthropology at the University of Colorado with his past professional brewing. Cwtch - Tiny Rebel - 4.6% ABV. B+ and a bit, going over I think but still a quality brew. Malty, fruity and hoppy with a gentle bitter finish #ale#beer#bier.
3.3/5. In the all new Carpenter’s where I can now get on the WiFi. Feeling very Saturday morning and wishing the rain would stop. #beersofmastodon@beersofmastodon
