My love for the audio #cassette is well documented, but every now and then I take things up a level. There's nothing quite like the sound of an open reel tape, recorded direct from the original master (or in this case, the archive safety tape*).
Many people say that #vinyl is the ultimate way to play music, but the music they're talking about was almost always originally recorded onto tape.
This beats vinyl.

Now that I own a #cassette player again, I learned that there are still albums released on tape, occasionally. Too bad this one costs $60, worth more than the entire "music center" :D
@mrc as a bit of #cassette fanboy, I can tell you there are quite a few releases available.
My recent acquisitions were a Tresor tape on Bandcamp and De La Soul 3 Feet High and Rising.
There is sadly no proper search on Amazon to find tapes.
@cdamian Neat, although I have no big ambitions with cassettes, you got me interested:) Will definitely try to buy something fresh on #cassette, maybe locally in Berlin or Budapest. I might even have a vintage #Walkman somewhere!

This will fit on one side of the cassette, which leaves Side B free for all of the original tracks without the dialogue and my screwing them up, lol. The intention is for people to make mixtapes and remixes of any and everything on the album.
The whole album will be releaded under a CC-BY-SA 4.0 creative commons license to enable this.

A #stereo receiver and dual #cassette deck - everyone in my family had their own (including me) back when I was in high school (date this back to the 1990s). I think the receiver was my Mom's and the deck was my sister's.
Had to order new speaker wire and speakers, but excited to see if these will still work for playing my cassettes. #retro
