A friend came over yesterday and was incredulous to learn that I've swapped out my expensive #hifi gear for a late 70s all-in-one Panasonic music centre.
The truth is, I'm now listening to and enjoying more #music on #cassette and #vinyl than I have in a long time.
Alan Parsons has a theory and it feels like he may be onto something:
"Audiophiles don’t use their equipment to listen to your music. Audiophiles use your music to listen to their equipment”
Listening to a pre-recorded #cassette that uses Dolby noise reduction to get an extra 10 dB or so of SNR. The music is recorded at about 20 dB below the maximum level available on a cassette. Well I guess they tried...
#Radio Irrtum! is a German language #radioShow exploring the sonic vastnesses of the #underground. Emitted transmissions will raise your attention for new unheard #music all over the genre spectrum from all over the world. Btw.: Forget about that German language aspect - it's all about the music!
And this time the topic of the whole is "hitter of crinders" (should be a fair translation of "Blocküren von Tieren") which by the way has absolutely nothing to do with anything that will happen during the show and indeed makes no sense at all. Just as I like things to be.
Because #RadioIrrtum always feels connected to open social networks, lots of mighty' n world dominating Fediverse artists will be featured, like @xylander, @limebar, @Lara or @rrrrroseazerty ! Because of your great music!
Also #CreativeCommons then and when. Because if you ask me, the music industry as we know it has to die.

I'm not looking for new vintage #cassette gear right now, but when a friend gifts you a desirable one owner #boombox from 1985 that's in close to new condition and doesn't need any work, it'd be churlish not to accept, right?
These #Sharp component boomboxes are a bit of a unicorn in that they're small, fully featured, can take a #turntable input and actually sound excellent.
