I may or may not be having more fun writing a #chess bot than I do actually playing chess. I can still fairly reliably beat my bot. . .but not quickly.
Ok so according to chess.com I'm a solid 1350-1400 ELO on puzzles (it's levelled out after a hundred a day for the last few days), and thus I suspect 200-300 lower if I actually play chess. My openings suck (easy: learn some openings), my mid game is weak (???) and my endgame is crap (the chess puzzles are definitely helping here). What did you do to improve your #chess game? Which books/videos/courses? I also don't have a ton of time for this, being an adult with a job and kids and all.
I was always (unironically) inspired by the fact that a particularly persistent pawn can sometimes be promoted to queen. I've never come anywhere near mastering the game (I'm not ANYONE's worthy opponent) but there are -so- few transformations of that type, even symbolic, in any cultural artifact. But now they've ruined the game's appeal for me. #chess

Forgetting about transgender women being banned from women’s chess tournaments for a moment, can anyone explain to me why #Chess competitions are gendered? Is that due to male fragility?
