OK so it clearly comes from the #web03 mess, I was smelling this, good to have a link, thanks @aral
Like most blockchain mess, they have stepped away... now the question is the tech they have built useful or useless, can it be run as unbranded community projects? Rather than branded #NGO tech fail. Anyone have information on this, please?
@witchescauldron@serapath When I was last playing with it, hypercore was (is?) based on a directed acyclic graph and worked well. It was lacking multi-writer support (without CRDT last I saw) but I believe that was finally addressed in time. The core tech, at least back then, was a genuine attempt to create a replicated datatype and tools based on it without any bloat (or a business model beyond grants). You could likely build on that foundation.
#NGIForum23 The is no way to edit or remove questions. The is no way to talk to anyone... A normal #NGI "trust" #4opens fail, except this time it is a hardcoded due to the use of this CMS for the event. Before this we used #FOSS with #BBB which worked well, then #dotcons silos that worked after a fight each time to get chat turned on, now we are here #blocking, every #EU tech event has pushed this "control" mess over the public. What are you guys in "control" going to do to stop this.
@rriemann@gvlx am looking at it now and trying to find out if it has any way from the public to chat to each other or to the organizers on the streaming video or inside the CMS have not found anything yet, do you know if it has this function?
Had a look thought the #Particify site, and it seems to be only a ONE-WAY tool, with controlled/shaped feedback. Which is why whoever organized #NGIForum23 used it. This is not "people to people" and it's not "trust". How can we go about putting in an official complaint to #NGI and their sponsors about this mess they keep pushing #EU
The problem we face on the #fediverse is the "shouting into the void" that the #mainstreaming brings with it. This is affecting all new social networks, the signal to noise is degrading everyone's #openweb experience. I think in part this is a failure of copying #dotcons that we need to move past soon #OMN#OGB#makeinghistory#indymediaback
Yes, well, we kinda fucked it up before #failbook came along. The #ossification of #indymedia network from my memory comes to mind. Technology as individualism over technology as social, the blogging revolution and years of pointless #encryptionists projects are good examples. Then the #dotcons puts shiny on their poison pill, and we all swallowed heaps of “social media” and here we are deep in the #deathcult with a vernier of the #openweb on the edge #OMN
#socialhub it's the normal #FOSS feudalism we need to move away from. Mess making is a problem with this stage of any grassroots movement. There is not much left of any "group" much more like cats it's individuals dressed as grassroots, human being are social, as is social media, we are still stuck in #dotcons headspace with current "personal" mess making.
20 years of #dotcons selling us libertarian individualism to push aside collective support of the "revolutionary" #openweb which is when we last had left tech power.
For this 20 years we have had #geekproblem pushing #closedweb as left tech, this is OBVIOUSLY a disaster we can't keep doing. Yes, let's not get into a prat fight, this is needed as a supplementary.
Remember #mainstreaming people have been and are still being vile in their interactions with the needed alternative. Grab a shoal and compost this mess, please.
#Lemmy and #kbin are clones of #Reddit, a libertarian individualist codebase built to feed from our "communities". In this Lemmy etc are good #4opens step away from the #dotcons but not radical left project beyond this first needed step.
