I'm watching season 4 of For All Mankind. I think it's a prequel to the Expanse. The people on the lower levels on Mars doing unappreciated maintenance work, crammed into tiny quarters, and not getting paid enough are the future Belters. #SciFi#ForAllMankind#TheExpanse
@montag : it's pretty gripping, although not high brow television. It has a conspiracy vibe to it, and the first season asks more questions than it answers, but it's got some thrilling moments too ! If you can see it, it's not a bad investment, although I wouldn't say it's worth the investment on its own.
Apple TV+ has tons of science-fiction, like #ForAllMankind, #Severance, #HelloTomorrow, #See or #Invasion (on top of #Silo and #Foundation which you've mentioned).
I kept stopping to look at all the models Bill Strausser has on his shelves in the latest episode of For All Mankind because so many of them I recognized from models I built as a kid in the late 1970s. I only have one bad photo of the many I built at that time but yes, there’s one of my cool rockets and elsewhere the Pan Am spaceplane from 2001: A Space Odyssey #forallmankind
Folks, I don't know how to convey this to you any plainer. FOR ALL MANKIND is the most ambitious show on television right now. It regularly makes bold and audacious storytelling swings. It is superbly acted and written with great intelligence and attention to detail. It covers vast decades of an alternative timeline. It is a genre mashup of Cold War thriller and hardboiled science fiction. For goodness sake, THERE IS NOW ORGANIZED CRIME ON MARS! NO TV SHOW HAS DONE THIS! Ballsy international intrigue ON EARTH AND ON MARS!
Apple has not renewed this show for a fifth season yet . But come on! Am I going to have to pass leaflets out in the street? FOR ALL MANKIND is Art. Capital A! We NEED to keep it on the air! NOBODY IS DOING ANYTHING LIKE THIS! Please watch this show. It's smart, entertaining, and terrific.
I've been catching up on #ForAllMankind, and while it's been a very enjoyable drama, I still can't get over them using an ancient obscure measurement system on mars.
A controversial ranking of select #ScienceFiction series. Remember, this is just my opinion. I am not an authority figure. I understand there will be wild disagreement.
#Sciencefiction#tvseries#forallmankind brings forward a usually neglected and abandoned as non existent (even in the future) issue about #workersrights in #spaceexploration.
In general the creators have shown repeatedly that they don't stick to clichés and usual #scifi tropes to deliver a brilliant series.
Even from the opening scene of s1e1 they show their intentions by re-enacting the 1st manned moon landing in a provocative way.
Hey @uastronomer, as a fellow space geek, do you watch AppleTV+’s #ForAllMankind? If not, I can highly recommend it! In S4 now, and one of my fav shows.
I keep thinking something will go wrong in the first episode of #ForAllMankind S4. I'd be happy if it didn't, but I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I’m rewatching #ForAllMankind starting at season 1, as this fourth season starts rolling out.
During “Nixon’s Women,” I had another one of my #AuDHD -as-hell moments:
Someone on screen (name? Dunno 🤷♀️) made a throwaway reference to “Frank Abernathy and his mules” and within fifteen seconds I had paused the show and asked Siri “what was the story with […]”.
The answer turned out to be every bit as interesting as my intuition told me it might be. Thought I’d share:
