Si vous aimez le #FreeJazz scandinave, Fire! revient à sa plus simple incarnation, le trio de base avec lequel ils se sont fait connaître. Album à la hauteur des précédents, du très bon gros son, que je recommande comme d'hab'

Another new release. This one documents some recent solo excursions in my current cavernous rehearsal space. I wanted to put something out to celebrate my 40th birthday coming up this month.
I have a couple preview tracks up, with proper masters and touched up artwork to follow.
I had a great time improvising last month in Chicago with Andrew Scott Young (bass) and Ben Billington (synthesizer). Me on soprano saxophone. This was a first time trio. Now available for free or pay-what-you-can download. There is also a link to video of the performance, in case you want to see me make a lot of very strange faces.
I'd love to see any @experimentalmusic folk out tomorrow night in #Chicago at Elastic Arts for the weekly #ImprovisedMusic series. I'll be in town, improvising with Andrew Scott Young and Ben Billington.
8:30PM Set 1:
Naima Nefertari - Piano
9:30PM Set 2:
Wilson Shook - Soprano Saxophone
Andrew Scott Young - Bass
Ben Billington - Synthesizer/Percussion
I play bass and electronic instruments, do some experimental video work, and live on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i.
Some things I've done that I love going on and on about: spent time in Bulgaria studying the concept of authenticity in relation to folk music, co-founded Community of Sound in Burlington Vermont, been an internationally ranked biathlon competitor (we won't say what that rank was though hahah).
My music often involves free improvisation, collaborations, and sometimes contemporary art music compositions.
My site is hand coded, has an RSS feed, and loads really fast.
