You should be able to find aftermarket bands for either of these.
There's so much variety. One big question: does he want a positive display, so he can read it, or a negative display, so he can't be blamed for not knowing what time it is?

My $50 #gshock bezel/band replacement came today. It’s quite good enough to restore the watch to wearable condition. (I’m not trying to create a museum piece.) Most noticeable differences are between the Casio and aftermarket bands.
