🇬🇧 It's Saturday, I've been awake since 4:00 a.m. because my #GermanShepherd has stomach problems 😅 Have to admit that getting enough #sleep hasn't worked out for me lately 🤷♂️ I tell myself that sleep is for the weak, but it's not true 😔
Many friends here have enjoyed & responded to posts about the #GSD I nicknamed "His Ancientness." It seems appropriate to post his farewell photo also. I will miss him forever. 💔
New Years Day in the #ScottishBorders. Some friends, the lovely and quite rare sunshine and playing hide and seek with Sam. A good way to start the year here. #GSD#GermanShepherd

I am fucking mad as hell, sick to my stomach and completely heartbroken for our poor boy, Gage.
Today, his new doctor had to remove 14 (yes FOURTEEN!) teeth due to a massive infection. Furthermore his blood cell count was down to nearly 4k which means the infection is moving or has moved to other parts of his body. He has probably been in a lot of pain for a while.
On top of this he has hypothyroidism which might explain other long standing issues.
36 hours after surgery and he’s doing so well. Eating chicken and softened kibble. He had a little salmon also. Tried to get a squirrel and taking lots of naps. No bad reactions to his meds. No complaining. Learn from dogs.
Welp. Just got my first email of this December asking me what puppy to get their kids for Christmas. 🤦♀️ 😡 Since I'm retired and no longer have to be even remotely nice, I answered with this pic of Ajo (last year when he was helping me plant saplings... 🙄) and told them I hope they get this one. I'm going to my crate now.
I haven't had much time for posting lately. (Work rules.) But I did this collage for some long-time friends of His Ancientness & thought others who cherish their old dogs would enjoy seeing it. Conventional wisdom about an old spinal injury suggested he'd never last this long, but at 12yrs-8mos, he's still managing around 1.5 miles on most days. He chooses how long and how often. I just revel in the fact that I have him for one more day.
