I remember planting ginger around there a couple of times, and digging up and reburying a couple of unfortunate rhizomes several times. But that bed also had potatoes a couple of years ago. Is the purple flower a variant of the white flower ginger? What do we think? #plantID
In spring I broke up one ginger root from the grocery into small pieces and planted half in the ground and half in a pot. They have both done very well. This is the third harvest this year so far and there is much more still to be dug up. Each time I harvest, I put a few pieces back in the ground so I'm hoping they will survive the winter. This little batch will be made into sushi ginger. Did you know if you freeze ginger whole it can be easily grated when needed?
