The original, historical Goths for which the modern sub-culture is named, were a Germanic tribe, probably from Scandinavia, best known for sacking Rome in 410 CE.

10 things you might not know about Goth culture:

Thank you for this! I always assumed was directly connected with gothic architecture only as far as https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_art and gothic literature but realistically only as far as Mary Shelley's work.

Fun fact, in Spain we call goths in Spain they were the ruling class for many years: https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hispania_visigoda

of the day: Drab Majesty - The Foyer

Dedicated to my loveliest sib, @yassie_j :agender_heart: 💗

One of the main ideas behind Andrew's Deb Demure persona is to be as agender as possible, both in outside presentation, and in music - it was them that introduced me to the concept of being agender. :Fire_Agender:

There are no words to describe how much I love this project. Most likely my favorite modern goth band.
I hope to be able to see them in Katowice - I actually got to catch Andrew in Warsaw after their gig (where they were playing under the Noel Skum persona as part of VR Sex), and they mentioned that they might come down here sometime :333 :ablobfoxbongohyper:

Happy agender day!!

The Highwayman Inn in Sourton, Devon, may be Britain's most eccentric pub. You enter through a porch designed to look like a stagecoach & then actually pass through the former almost 200-year-old Launceston to Okehampton stage coach, complete with padding, upholstery, buttoning & seats. The pub's interior is crammed with eccentric items, such as cartwheels, tree trunks & bits of old ships. The pub is extremely haunted, with some of the activity linked to a door from an old whaler - the ship got trapped in ice off Greenland, with the captain & several crew members perishing.

Grannie Kempoch Stone faces the sea in Gourock, Scotland. This megalith was seen as a source of good luck to sailors - they would walk around the stone seven times with a basket of sand 'chanting a weird song' if they were going on a long voyage. In 1662, a group of local women suspected of witchcraft were executed - they'd allegedly danced round the stone on the Sabbath with the intention of sinking a ship passing through the Clyde.

Song of the Day - No 151

Dead Can Dance - Severance

FUN FACT: Had this played at during our wedding vows.

WIKI
"Severance" by Dead Can Dance is a hauntingly beautiful song that explores separation, loss, and longing. Gerrard's mesmerizing vocals and Perry's evocative instrumentation create an enchanting and introspective experience.

of the day: Sacred Hearts - Catholic Guilt

A short darkwave/darkpop song from a relatively new Australian act, that struck a deeply personal chord with me.

Will do a write-up to explain what I mean, but it has to be CW'd so I'll do it within a separate post.
