Okay, this makes me feel better about my own life choices.
"The people who buy music gear [...], I would say more than half of them are not really making music on it. They’re just collecting it and playing with it. [...]
They just buy the software, they play with the knobs, they listen to it for a second, and there’s no shame in it at all.
Nice 9.2km run this morn after checking, IDing and releasing my mothological visitors overnight.
This one is stumping me and I am 70-30 torn in favour of Oak-tree pug vs Brindled Pug.
Two humans and two AI apps have suggested both, and my own research is inconclusive. But pale marking near the distal spot + wing shape bend me more towards Oak-tree.
Thinking about buying one of these wee scopes in the future, my Hitachi scope from the 80s is starting to get a little on the weird side and it's definitely on the old and heavy side. I'll never need Tek or even Rigol for the playing around and experimenting I like to do and I like that it's battery-operated. I love the size and the touchscreen feature too.
Anybody have any experiences with these wee units?
I really enjoy following @ricard and how he organized all his web stuff. A good example of “owning your content”. I learned a lot from his blogs on #mastoAdmin stuff and he posts a lot about his #hobbies. Inspiring stuff! #followFriday
I want to learn how to do #VisibleMending but I suck at teaching myself new #hobbies so I want to take an in person class & the only ones near me start at $100+.
So yeah, got any recommendations for learning how to mend clothing in fun ways? Sigh. I see if I can get a book out from the library.
Any time I meet someone that I really enjoy because they're into a lot of different fascinating things and they really seem to be excited about all their hobbies, I immediately feel a sense of kindred spirits.
My bio here says "too many interests" instead of the customary list of hashtags.
As if this wasn't true, my kids keep adding new hobbies to the list.
Yesterday I was trying to get a USB Software Defined Radio to do something useful on a raspberry Pi. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I think I should have started on a device with a display.
The day before, I was out playing with a tiny quadcopter.
Well, since I was already at it, I decided to write about one of the #hobbies I don't really practice much anymore, #Cardistry. But maybe the fact that I wrote about it will make me gain interest on it again? ...
After an unintentional hiatus involving a wedding, the holidays, and a dose of the sads, I’ve started finding solace in watching classic movies, developing an appreciation for the unique styles of old cinema. I’ve been on a Frankenstein kick, watching the films from the 1930’s, and then the Abbott and Costello take from the 40’s. I’ve also now developed a crush on Lou Costello.
There's an arts center that teaches tap dancing. If I learned how to tap, I could dance with my neice and nephew in-law, who used to dance on national tours. They're so talented. I'm just daydreaming.
I ordered another camera, a Canon 5DSR. I'm starting to wonder if I'm out of control, with the whole photography thing. That will make four cameras. I suppose, though, that I could have a worse obsession.
For my wife, its sewing machines and fabric, she quilts and has a little shop in a small outbuilding just to the west of my office. Have you ever purchased a high end sewing or quilting machine. It's worse than buying a car. Prices aren't readily available to allow for comparison shopping - not even an MSRP. So, you end up having to visit or calling different dealers to find their prices. Then haggling isn't out of the question.
“One must be serious about something, if one wants to have any amusement in life.” - Oscar Wilde, John Cooper, The Importance of Being Earnest
This morning I was informed by Mrs. Miasma that re-stacking the Tupperware containers in our refrigerator (with judgy side commentary) does NOT constitute a legitimate post-retirement hobby.
I was invited to take myself and my organizational efforts elsewhere in our house.
I guess some people need time to finish their tea before dealing with me or life's other challenges.
One of my #hobbies is high power rocketry. It is amazing what is allowed here in the US. We can launch several pounds of tubes and cones at supersonic speeds, up to 22000 ft at our launch site here in Minnesota.
