For #MustangMonday we have the handsome young stallion known as Gideon, from the south Onaqui range. He is part of a rough crew of young bachelors who are regularly stirring things up, so this quiet pose in special. He is a powerful and formidable 4 yr. old.
Horses have a timeless appeal. So does the black and white color scheme. I combined both in this monochromatic watercolor piece, where I aimed to portray the power and elegance of this animal.
A season without much rain brought a dry dusty desert last fall in Utah's Onaqui Mountain range. These wild ones lines up perfectly for me on the hillside as the dust from their movement floats by.
#MustangMonday! Sorry that I have been absent from here lately, but I have been in the west desert making new #Wildhorse#Art! Spring on the desert brings new grasses but there is still snow on the mountains. These three mares are from Chic's band in the north Onaqui herd and they are enjoying the new grass as they move to the waterhole.
During the round up, shepherds spend the week gathering sheep from the mountains. On the final day the whole flock is driven to the place they will be sorted and returned to their farms.
On the morning of the final day we awoke to thick mist but as the sun rose, it began to lift. The merging of sunrise and mist infused the world with a magical glow.
#WildHorseWednesday! Two wild stallions greet each other on a dusty ridge. AKA 'you put your left foot out', lol. They snorted, pawed and went on their way.
