#Japan defense ministry confirms #DPRK “missile fell into the water,” reports NHK. No word on whether Pyongyang was able to deploy a satellite as it had announced was the plan.
I didn't think of videoing us while catching the sōmen carried by flowing water, so here's some stock footage of this popular Japanese tradition: https://youtu.be/OPiQ5nZ_olg #japan
Most Americans don’t know that the airspace above Tokyo belongs to their military. There are multiple US military bases in Greater Tokyo including multiple army facilities right in the center of Tokyo (see the photo below). These facilities have heliports and the US military freely flies helicopters at low altitudes against the wishes of the local mayors.
A Japanese newspaper is finally starting to write about the problem. https://mainichi.jp/articles/20230530/k00/00m/040/285000c#Japan
Places I go in Kyōto Prefecture still surpass my expectations after many years. Even a place I often go, but in a different micro-season, shows its range as I show mine with career tapering these days. Not intending to take photos, but needing a hike in good weather as the rainy season has started, I took the following photos along with others of irises, azaleas, water lilies, and various flowers.
Here there is 1) the torii demarking the entrance to the sacred space of the Shintō shrine, 2) a blue heron close up in a lily pond, 3) bridges across the big pond leading to the shrine, with a limited palette of complementary colors, and 4) a mossy tree and traditional structures.
Nagaoka Tenjin is a big shrine dedicated to the deified Sugawara no Michizane. Ancient Japanese did not separate gods from ancestors, or even material objects from living things including humans. It seems to me that it was all just their world that they animated.
"The machines, which contain about 300 bottles and cans of soft drinks and 150 emergency food items, including nutritional supplements, have been installed near buildings that have been designated as evacuation shelters.
They are designed to “unlock” and make their contents available free of charge in the event of a heavy rain warning, or an evacuation order after a quake of an upper five"

🇯🇵#Japan’s largest bank Megabank Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) has announced its stablecoin issuance platform Progmat Coin that would be used to issue local bank-backed stablecoins on multiple public #blockchains.
There’s an increase of trials and subs for my app from Japan. It’s always been my no. 2 country but the user share has grown noticeably these days. Nothing mind blowing but noticeable.
I googled for clues and I found nothing.
I managed to check the Japanese App Store and I found my app as no. 17 in the “now trending” list. Nice to see that but no idea why.
