I’m trying to sell my tv on #facebook#marketplace and had the same step by step experience as in the article. It’s interesting that last year I sold a pair of speakers and never encountered a single scammer. Now the place is rife with #scammers

There's an odd social phenomenon tied to the "marketplace of ideas." It always starts with a stated intent to give voice to the marginalized, and it always ends with the establishment and protection of xenophobic hate speech against those same marginalized people.
@jovial_cynic Nonsense. The entire #metoo movement was the marketplace of ideas shutting down rapey establishment folks. So is every example of conservatives bitching about cancel culture.
The free marketplace of ideas does allow any idea to be presented, but it's up to us to debate these ideas and make sure the best ones rise to the top.
