I beat Fall of Elena Temple on my #playdate and I want to start a new game. I'm being indecisive though and just end up playing a ton of SHIFT everytime I grab it X-).
Trying to figure out how to create the A glyph with a circle around it for the #playdate. It seems like this should be relatively easy or far more difficult than it should be. Fortunately, it is the latter. The answer is in the "Designing for Playdate" docs: https://sdk.play.date/2.1.1/Designing%20for%20Playdate.html#_buttons
Answer: Just use the glyphs Ⓐ or Ⓑ and just draw them like standard text. An easy solution, it was the digging around for the answer which was trickier.
If you were considering grabbing a #PlayDate, but were put off by the pre-order, you may want to take another look. @panic have caught up on their backlog, and are shipping new orders within a week 🎉
I still love mine; you won’t find a gaming experience like it! 📒
FYI the #Playdate#handheld game console is no longer backordered—you can just get one!
It’s got a weird high-quality unlit screen (like super fast e-ink, if e-ink were much sharper), a weird crank, and awesome dev tools. A unique mix of high-tech and retro. So much fun to develop for!
I wonder if I should remove the Toilet Paper Cat game from Rachel's PlayDate Game Pack - the dead bottom corner was from me accidentally knocking the PD off a desk, but those smaller dead pixels are from my friend's kid holding the screen while cranking. My previous PlayDate had a similar issue from a stranger playing Toilet Paper Cat.
I don't want everyone to be getting dead pixels on their game system from overzealous play. 😩😩😩
