Friday Night Big Screen

"Rizzo and Kinicky, yeah you know they liked it freaky"

Love the chorus on this one. Sweaty synth fuzz and distorted guitar, hell yeah.

So, 20 years ago (wow), Yellowcard gave us the pop-punk / emo classic Ocean Avenue.

Now, they worked with Steve Aoki to drop an electronic remix / remake of the song.

I am definitely digging it.

Check it out here: https://songwhip.com/steve-aoki/ocean-avenue

Anyone I know in the Denver area fans of Jack’s Mannequin, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Arlie, and/or Michigander? I might have extra tickets for tonight’s show at the Fillmore. 👀 Hit me up.

Okay last call because doors just opened and the show starts in an hour.

FREE ticket to Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness at the Fillmore tonight in Denver, because otherwise it’ll just be wasted.

A few weeks ago we shared some of the music we at Team Thunderbird use to get focused. We'd love to know what tunes - songs, playlists, or even genres - help you flow through that Monday morning inbox. ✉️ 🎧

A man in a white dress shirt and black tie sits at a desk in front of computer, listening to music on headphones. His eyes are closed and he's waving one hand as if he's conducting an orchestra.

@thunderbird To cancel out the sound of screaming that plays inside my head on a Monday, I go to my go-to music for all occasions: ! 🤙

Apparently there is a new Yellowcard EP and they dropped a Dashboard Confessional reference in the opening track!

November 8, 1993

that dog released their debut, self-titled LP

First released as a double 7”, then on CD on 4AD, and a few months later in the U.S. on Geffen Records.

By far their best album, though I suspect casual fans may not be as familiar with this one as their third album, “Retreat From The Sun”.

So many fun, well constructed songs featuring truly beautiful voices singing about things like Shakey’s Pizza, Zodiac signs, and having your area code changed. Very SoCal.

The harmonizing vocals of the Haden sisters and Anna Waronker (married to Steve McDonald of Redd Kross!) are the main draw for me. Best example is the track “Punk Rock Girl”, but you can hear it in the punky indie-pop opening track “Old Timer” 👇

Okay, so @ami_angelwings is hosting the musical hashtag . So, this week's theme is .

How about I go with self-disgust with the classic "Walking Contradiction" from their album Insomniac. https://songwhip.com/green-day/walkingcontradiction

Okay, so it's time for ...well, for me. Kind of. It's still morning here.

The theme is . I'm going with a B-Side called Flo which tells the story about the narrator's girlfriend who is still clearly in love with her ex named Florence (gender never specified in the song) and how it's starting to emotionally screw with him. https://songwhip.com/smash-mouth/flo
