Matt and me made our first pictures together in his garage apartment on Dolores/17th. No windows; the only natural light (and air) came in through vents at the bottom of the garage door.
Recently got myself the Fujifilm 35mm f2 and been trying to test it out, but I've not had many photographic opportunities recently. So here's my cat being the wonderful poser that he is.
📷 Tony found this dried leaf in a corner, picked it up and "played" it. We made this and other pictures on a Sunday afternoon at Notre Dame Plaza on Dolores Street. The former convent school (c 1910) was run down, dusty and mostly empty, and I had an office there.
Tony was a friend who was reading for a social work degree.

Made with meth.
Scrolling through my archive of raw film scans, I can tell in an instant if I made the picture during a 6-month addiction, October 1995-March, 1996.
Sean may have known I was tweaking; we never talked about it. He was a pro snowboarder, crushing the Mission in the off-season—no need for feel-good drugs.
Al is an artistic polymath I knew in late 80s DC when he was king of alt-nightlife in #AdamsMorgan. We met and became friends at his rooftop #KitschyTiki bar, #Krakatoa Lounge.
Al liked my pictures and gave me confidence when I was just beginning to shoot with intention.
I learned this minute he's Art Critic at #NewArtExaminer in #Phoenix. Because of course he is! 😊
