@seawall I was pretty surprised that the hardwood cuttings developed much better roots than softwood cuttings. I actually expected opposite results. In past, put cuttings into very damp soil conditions. I wanted to see how fast roots develop this year - hence this experiment 😊

Sharing etymological roots in pairs is particularly true when it comes to the word for "raspberry": For example, Lithuanian avietė & Latvian avene. it comes from Proto-Balto-Slavic *áwis "sheep", because to them, raspberries resembled sheep.

The Labour party is in my blood. Here’s why I’ve just cancelled my membership

Not a bad column for Jones. Mind you he is now writing for The National. Will a bid for citizenship be far away post independence?

So he finaly noticed. He was the first person to block me on the birdsite and called me a nutter for saying labour was run by thatcherites. 😆

@mattotcha This also suggests a potential advantage from adding N-fixing cover crops to the tea understory. Grow the tea guild and the microbes / fungi appear.

Alex Haley's ROOTS (1977) is streaming free on Tubi until Feb 29.

Sure the two processes are different. What's remarkable is how much the end product looks alike structure-wise, suggestive of similar underlying processes and constraints.

Tonight in 1977 — ROOTS debuted on ABC.

LeVar Burton led an all-star cast in this Emmy-winning miniseries based on Alex Haley’s best-selling book.

The finale remains one of the most-watched, non-sports broadcasts in TV history.

did everyone else already know that this is what potato roots do???

these look like alien/scifi plants, for real.

there's basically already a whole tiny ecosystem around these roots. i even saw some white fuzzy critters sitting on them. there's a lot going on here and it looks very out-of-this-world.

biology: you're wild!

@plants

another set of potato roots. you can see one of the white fuzzy critters on the left side and at the base of the center-most root.
another potato root

yar,

@mk30 @plants I learned this early on from living in gross houses
