This follows comments made by Zelenskyy in 2023 that the army needed 500,000 more men and pressure from the West to lower #Ukraines age of conscription.
Due to a #heatwave in the #mediterranean unusually high air temperatures have brought sand from the Sahara to Ukraine, reported the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
I've been thinking for a long time on setting up a VPS to self host some services but lack of time and energy to do it properly (as this post describes) is blocking me.
Yet, I'm also more inclined to share the load in a coop fashion so I may never do it, or do it just for learning and never go to "production".
@jorgesanz thanks for the link, it is a good usable non-technical take. Only I didn't understand the bent towards rootless containers at the end, seems less performant for no benefit.
Such an honor and privilege to see my humble artwork - reimagination of neolithic-henge discovered in Boyne Valley / Ireland by Anthony Murphy & Ken Williams - on Adrian Dunbar's Scenic Ireland on Channel 5 programme. #scenicireland#channel5_tv#adriandunbar#ireland#mythology
📢🚨 #Microsoft has warned of an Israel-Hamas-themed phishing scam, accompanied by the use of a custom backdoor called #MediaPI, carried out by the Iranian Mint #Sandstorm APT.
Desert Atlas is a new app for your mapping needs. Search and bookmark. Plan trips with friends. When you're done, export your bookmarks to #OrganicMaps or #OsmAnd for navigation.
And, it's fully self-hosted: even the base map is stored in your grain.
Interesting to see the #Sandstorm project on the front page of the Orange Site.
From the comments there is clearly a desire for something like Sandstorm, and a lot of different opinions on why sandstorm didn't make it and how this should be built.
So my Internet was down for 18 hours at home, and that meant my personal #sandstorm server was cut off from the world.
Interestingly, this was mostly okay... I have my DNS set up internally so it works on the local network while the Internet is down, and I sort of wish more stuff was solely on it so the Internet being down didn't bug me as much.
The only big downside was my feed reader couldn't grab new stories.
@ill_logic This was my #sandstorm server, yes. I also have a Windows domain controller, and I put a local zone in for my Sandcats subdomain to resolve the local network IP of the server to computers in the house.
@ill_logic Yeah. Obviously it can't get app updates, it's certs definitely won't renew, and I can't access it from the outside, but it's serviceable during outages.
Ultimately the reason this actually works better than most other self-hosted setups is the extreme sandboxing: Since #Sandstorm apps are generally blocked from loading outside resources anyways, they aren't missing much when the Internet is gone.
I'm going to let app devs declare an "accent-color" in their #Dropserver app manifests. It's a very cheap, easy and safe way of giving apps more personality inside the Dropserver UI.
I use a lib to parse the color and regenerate it using a CSS color parsing library to prevent an injection attack.
It won't affect accessibility because I'm not using the color for text foreground or background.
(Note: Davros is not a DS app, I borrowed it from #Sandstorm to play w/ full-bleed icon in #PenPot).
> I've never kept a list, but it strikes me how many people are dedicating to writing complete browser engines from scratch.. but in so many go-it-alone efforts, that likely the vast majority of these projects will strand. If only they'd unite, right?
For some I pinged you with the URL. I've also been in a thread, think with @aral about starting such united project (can't find that).
The #Sandstorm project is excited to finally join the fediverse!

I need some help trying to figure out what kind of attack is happening with my host. I have a single ubuntu server with some wordpress apps, bookstack, roundcube, and tautulli. I've noticed recently that a bunch of "index.php" files have been added to sites in "upload" folders, and that what appears to be system files for the web apps being modified.
