At the #library, I picked up the debut novel by Tommy Orange, an #Oakland-based Native writer.
I couldn’t put it down for 100 pages. It’s like it was written for me: Oakland streets, bikes, Radiohead, MF Doom, the Coliseum, BART, ethnic food, family stuff.
Kicked off Pride Month with the Petaluma Pride team at Sonoma County Pride over the weekend! It was a glorious day and we look forward to seeing folks at Petaluma Pride in October which is LGBT History Month ✨
"...51-year-old billionaire Hamdi Ulukaya (founder and CEO of yogurt maker #Chobani) said he’s reviving the #SanFrancisco brand in an Instagram video posted Friday morning."
I wondered through the aisles clutching my shopping list like a talisman against the near-overwhelming desire to buy more than I could possibly carry home. I probably looked confused, and I was a little confused, but more than anything I was overwhelmed with joy.
East Bay locals will know the last overpass on 24 East before the 680 interchange bc MAGAts have gathered there for years to show their hate and rage. Today there were several upside down flags stretching across the highway in some bizarre declaration of support for fascist dystopia. Unreal. You think “Free Palestine” banners would be tolerated? But somehow this is ok. Wowowow #sfba
As you can see in the report, our monthly donations have taken a big hit since moving off of OpenCollective. Now's a great time to support the server—every little bit helps: https://ko-fi.com/sfba_fedi
San Francisco - where you can see a man walking towards you saying “I’ve never hated a btch more. I wish that btch would die” and not be sure if he is (1) talking to himself; (2) talking to the world; (3) talking to someone on his earbuds hidden by his hoodie. Whichever it is, he’s creepy and I definitely kept my distance until he went by. #sfba#SanFrancisco
Pff.. I just got cut off on my bike by this triple A hole with his massive window blinded SUV on the bike lane while he was holding his phone making a call
I was signing and yelling he should put his phone down and open his eyes, didn't take much of his car would have enjoyed the frame of my bike
Seemed like a "though businessman" or perhaps even a diplomat with foreign licence who did like he "owned the place" but not when I'm around
I don't care for your status, act like a human or ...
@stux you’re generalizing 300m people divided in 50 states. It depends on the area where you move. In #sfba you will be fine because too many drivers have bikes and understand how it feels to ride a bike on the street with cars.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We typically refer to our region as "the Bay Area" as if that was actually a distinctive name.
Just out of curosity, what other places also refer to their region as "The Bay Area?"
I know of one and it's totally messed me up before because I used to travel there for work a couple of weeks a year. The DC, Virginia, Maryland region is also referred to as the Bay Area and they even have a "Bay Bridge" like us.
It was that they also had a Bay Bridge that truly messed me up when I was there. Being a West Coaster transported to the East Coast to a place that used the same terminology to refer to themselves, it felt like everything was upside down and I'd sometimes get confused as to which Bay Area people were referring to.
