My latest binge watch is the 1997 Canadian series Stargate SG-1 after I accidentally saw the black hole swallowing the planet episode off-air at a friend's place.
It ran 10 years and spawned 2 sequel series and some specials.
Once you get over how every alien planet looks like British Columbia and I guess the Earth vegetation got transplanted with all the humans, huh, it's not a bad watch.
Good cast, reasonable production values for the era, more consistent writing than most shows: recommend.
Ok, liebe #StarGate Bubble. Ich habe gerade entdeckt, dass die #StadtBibliothek in #Saarbrücken SG-1 Staffel 1 bis 10 hat. Staffel 1 ist aktuell ausgeliehen, dafür wäre Star Gate Atlantis verfügbar.
Zwei Fragen:
Macht Atlantis Sinn, wenn man SG1 nicht kennt?
Und (noch wichtiger) endet SG1 nach der 10. vernünftig? Laut Wikipedia wurde sie "eingestellt", was Spielraum für Spekulationen lässt. Serien ohne vernünftiges Ende nerven mich, fühlen sich nach verschwendeter Lebenszeit an.
@fedithom Ich bin da bei @inpector, #SGA ohne #SG1 ist möglich, aber dann fehlt dir einiges und die Crossoverfolgen sind dann vermutlich komplett irritierend.
Und ja, das Ende ist ok. Es führt die Stränge hinreichend zusammen, lässt aber genug offen, um daran anzuknüpfen, was mit #SGU ja dann auch geschieht. 🙂

I'm curious now how well the ML model used in Topaz Video AI stands up to the upscale job Visual Entertainment Inc did for Stargate SG-1 for the Bluray boxset.
I still have my complete DVD boxset as well, so I've decided to run the Iris V2 model of TVAI on a couple of episodes and compare. The VEI upscale is pretty blurry, and in some places really bad. It can't hurt to try!
I've made some progress. I decided to try to enhance the VEI upscales from the Bluray, and it seems to work fairly well. Here's a scene from the pilot. You have to be on a PC screen to see the difference I think, and it's made with screencast on an RDP session, so there are some additional issues ... 😋

Dear Dr. Freemo: I always liked Stargate SG-1, I feel that Stargate SG-1 cast had good chemistry together and proper individual character delineation. Stargate SG-1 scripts had needed much improvement, I still loved 💘 all of the cast characters.
