For anyone at @BlueTeamCon who wants to understand why many forms of MFA are not phishing-resistant and why passkeys/FIDO2 are, tomorrow at 12:20pm during lunch in the #unconference room I’ll be delivering an impromptu session on #phishing resistant authentication, including a live demo of #evilginx.
If you are unfamiliar with SODU, please have a look what what we did last year (https://codethecity.org/what-we-do/sodu2022/ ) ! It's a friendly, energetic, and inspiring event where we share knowledge and experience. See you there!
But it has 58 accounts following it, many people who came to the first #Fediforum. If you want to connect and discuss things before the #unconference, tag it?
@fediforum I’d love to attend a session on how we can encourage independent organizations to set up their own servers using their already-recognized domains. Domains are one of the primary ways we as internet users trust that we know where information is coming from, and (barring cyberattacks) we can be confident that something on propublica.org is actually from the ProPublica we think it is. Why, then, is ProPublica not hosting their own server?
This is a major benefit of the fediverse - authentication can happen internally for an organization instead of relying on a third party company to decide they can have a specific handle.
@jarjarbrinksmanship Also, to be clear, FediForum is an #unconference, meaning that the attendees make the agenda for each day in the morning based on what attendees want to talk about; it's not us organizers. We merely encourage people to come, and often reach out to interesting people with interesting subjects; what they do is up to them.
The #p4p#unconference @ #offline is a bit less than two weeks away (27.-30.07.23) and if you're interested in p2p software (in all forms, technically, socially, politically, artistically, ...) you should come and / or even present something!
In an attempt to reduce the undesired kind of chaos during the event, we have started planning things a bit and prepared some awesome... forms. 😇
If you are planning to attend, please [RSVP]. We are trying to match people who have excess beds with people who need one, let's see how well that works out. We are also excited to learn about your food allergies!
If you want to host one or more sessions, please submit to the [Call for Sessions]. We are planning to open and promote part of the event to the wider public. If your are not comfortable with that or think your session wouldn't be a good fit for that, or you don't want your name on the offline website, you can let us know in the submission.
Looking forward to rapid learning, passionate debate and creating new momentum for the next steps forward for the Fediverse, just like we did at our first event in March.
The next FediForum online #unconference for the #Fediverse will happen September 20 and 21st, 2023.
It's an #event whose program is determined by you: you, the attendees, decide what the sessions are, what topics are discussed, and what to spend more or less time on.
Registration will go up shortly. In the meantime, fill out the interest form at https://fediforum.org/ and read the notes from the more than two dozen amazing sessions we had at the first event in March!
In a few days I will be at CoMoCamp in Vienna 🇦🇹! Will I meet you there? 🤜 🤛 I'm excited to meet the community, and learn what everyone have been doing! Love the energy of a unconference! ⚡
