Today’s opening of the Conejo Canyons bridge in Hill Canyon is excellent news for hikers, cyclists, and public safety. Hikers and cyclists will no longer have to share the single-lane road with trucks entering/leaving the Hill Canyon wastewater treatment plant.
And because the bridge connects Hill Canyon with the Western Plateau in Newbury Park, first responders and public works employees no longer will have to travel out of town via the Camarillo grade to reach either end of the Conejo Canyons.
We are incredibly fortunate to live in such a beautiful area. Hope you get out and enjoy it!
More proof that we have the best students here in Thousand Oaks: Attentive groups of kids observed and asked great questions during Trails Education Week, where experts from @conejoopenspacefoundation and @conejoopenspace helped students enjoy and learn about our beautiful open space.
Photo 1: An attentive group from Westlake Hills Elementary observed and asked great questions of @conejoopenspace director Brian Stark.
Photo 2: Students learned about trail etiquette from COSCA board member @dorozoea. Remember the courtesy triangle: Horses have priority over hikers, who have priority over cyclists.
Photos 3 and 4: This is YOUR open space – get out there and enjoy it!
What happend to the @SoCraCan (SoCraTes Canarias)?
Does anyone have some #OpenSpace pictures they like to share? Especially if they would be usable on another event page for visualizing the #OpenSpace format (I'm talking about the @OSCo ;-)
@ASegar
Great idea. This would possibly solve a problem we currently face creating a not-for-profit participant driven security conference (@OSCo)(*)
This brings me to the question, is #OpenCollective regional restricted (US only)?
(*) We're currently plan an #OpenSpace format (your critic is known and your book is on my wishlist).
If you have tips or learning for us they would be very welcome 😀
Edit: Thank you all for boosting and answering.
I would love to make the Open Space format better known in the cybersecurity context. I think it is a valuable addition to existing formats such as traditional conferences or #BSides
If you would like to learn more about Open Space see my follow up posts
If you participated in Open Space events (in any domain) please share your experience.
There even have been some #Cybersecurity Open Space events (at least one, the #SecCamp Cologne)
I really like the format and would like to see it more in #InfoSec es well.
If you would like to experience a security themed Open Space event you are in luck.
Following the saying "Be The Change You Want To See In The World" I present you the Open Security Conference #OSCo24 planned for fall of 2024.
If you like to learn more and would like to be informed on updates, please follow @OSCo
Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency: "12/24/2023 - Limited ReOpening!
Looking to get out of the house in the next couple of days? Here’s a PRO TIP! Head over to the Los Robles open space area for a breath of fresh air and some pleasant hiking and riding! Other open space areas like Wildwood, Lang Ranch, and Hill Canyon are still quite muddy from the recent rains. Help protect those trails from damage by giving them a few more days to dry out. Remember: if you leave tracks, turn back. Thanks, and Happy Holidays!" https://conejo-openspace.org/#openspace#hiking#mountainbiking#ConejoValley#ThousandOaks#NewburyPark
Last week the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA) board honored longtime chair Rorie Skei, third from left, and voted to nominate Dorothy Sullivan, next to Skei, as the board’s next citizen representative. This week the City Council unanimously approved Dorothy’s nomination. Both women are giants in local open-space usage and conservation.
Thinking this morning about connection and community over distance. I have always wanted an MMO-type interface to an #openSpace conference room on-topic. I'm willing to code up the graphics and networking… #softwareConcept#theNewStrangeLoop
@mondstern eröffnet seine #Vernissage mit Bildern von freier Software. Es gibt die ein oder andere Überraschung. Wir freuen uns auf alle, die den Weg zu uns finden :)
Today I facilitated an internal, virtual #OpenSpace in our company with 40 participants. It was the second OpenSpace that I did with that team, but the first virtual one. For various reasons the "best" tool we could use was Microsoft Teams and ... to my surprise it worked well!
We used the built-in whiteboard to explain the OpenSpace principles and plan the schedule. The sticky notes are really nice, because they automatically have the author's name in the header and have emoji voting.
Ages ago (pre Corona) there was a 2 day #CyberSecurity#Unconference/ #OpenSpace event.
AFAIR in Dortmund or close
Anyone knows this conference and can give me hints to find it again?
"Reason #6: The “unconference track” trap Some event stakeholders make the well-intentioned but disastrous mistake of adding an unconference track to their traditional conference.
It’s the biggest unconference mistake you can make.
Most attendees don’t know what an unconference is or have had a bad experience at a poorly designed event."
