SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE
Diary
2017 U.S. 2xLP Ltd. Ed. Reissue
A monster album for me when I was in high school.
Being a total devotee of all things Sub Pop in the #90s , this one hit me in a way that none of the label’s other releases at the time.
I remember buying it on tape, & it taking me at least a week to get past the first 3 songs, because I kept rewinding it after Song For An Angel and playing those 3 over & over.
This is a terrific jangle-pop record - ‘Fairweather Friend’, released in January this year by The Umbrellas on Tough Love Records. This is the Trolley Blue limited edition - 88/300 representing!
No difficult second album here - it’s fantastic, and well worth picking up! ♥️😀 #vinyl#vinylrecords#record#recordcollection#vinylcollection
I dragged my feet getting this reissue, but I'm glad I found a copy. Really tremendous record and a fantastic pressing. Significant Herbie Hancock presence on this recording
The Angry Samoans – “Inside My Brain” (1980)
US pressing on Bad Trip Records
12", 45 RPM
Certainly in my top 5 punk bands. They were a great representation of the punk ethos of their time. Angry, snotty, divisive, offensive, and raw.
Lots of infighting with the scene, best demonstrated by their diss track about Rodney Biggenheimer.
Lee Ving is alleged to have produced this album but asked not to have his name credited because of “Get Off The Air”.
I can’t tell if this is a first or second pressing from 1980, or a repressing from 1983. Pretty sure I bought this used, which is why there’s red marker writing on the cover.
Another import I was eager to find after a friend got this and we’d listen to the whole thing repeatedly.
This is a second pressing from Germany in 1981. Got this around 1990. Even then this was hard to find and import only.
It remains their best live album imho. Recorded on New Year’s Eve 1977 in London, they took the best of 3 performances, and it shows. You can hear how excited the crowd was throughout the album.
Just checking my music collection...
and right now I remember someone back in mid 1990's stole one important vinyl record (among the others) and it's now valued $800USD.
I curse him... I really curse him
Spinning my second favorite #PinkFloyd album. It’s a modern pressing but it sounds amazing (on my system at least). It’s on my list of top three original pressings to chase down (all three of which are Floyd albums incidentally).
Bob Fartblossom, aka Bob Durkee, was a kind of local underground celeb where I grew up. After putting out releases from his own band (Pillsbury Hardcore) he started his own label and put out bands like Justice League, Three Day Stubble, and Subculture. I’d buy pretty much anything on the label in the mid to late 80s.
This has become a bit of a novelty item since it’s Dave Grohl’s first band.
Comes with glossy fold-out insert with photos, and “thanks” list, a postcard, and the text "David Grohl destroys Tama drums exclusively” in the lower left corner.
Also, engraved on one side's runoff is the message "Everything Matters" while on the other side is etched "Time Doesn't Matter".
If any of you fine people are on Instagram and even remotely interested, you can find me there too. The usual stuff - me dicking about primarily with #VinylRecords.
Split record featuring Big Drill Car covering Cheap Trick's "Surrender" on the A-side, and Chemical People covering the Kiss / Ace Frehley song "Getaway"
1991
Original pressing on yellow vinyl
I love covers. I liked both of these bands and got to meet and interview both of them right around the release of this record. Covering two of my favorite bands too!
For me, a record, a tape or a disc is the physical reference from the artist I like so much in my collection. That's not the same to have a digital file or streaming, unless it's a #MiniDisc Nice article
Hi folks, I'm on the lookout for a #vinyl test record. Specially one that has the 3150Hz tone on it to check for wow and flutter. If you have one you want to sell or know where they can be bought please let me know! 🙏 #vinylrecords #vinylcollection
