If you are wondering why #SwiftUI attachments to #RealityKit entities in #visionOS don't seem to compile anymore: looks like the API got changed in the final release 🙂
The compiler is as helpful as usual in SwiftUI contexts, it suggests that the API is not available on visionOS on the old version ...
the #visionOS 1.1 release notes say that alternate icons are now supported but i'm still getting false for UIApplication.shared.supportsAlternateIcons 🤔
For #visionOS developers: As we approach first software update for #visionPro I want to add support for visionOS „Device Support" files in #DevCleaner - anyone could confirm me what is the format of the folder that contains them, if you can just DM me (or send via e-mail, contents of this folder if you ever used Vision Pro for development: ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/visionOS DeviceSupport
My first update to BitMaps for #visionOS is out. This one allows you to open addresses, coordinates, and links from Apple Maps and Google Maps in BitMaps from the share sheet. I'm super happy with how seamless this feels!
I made a new app that lets you have your favourite websites as light weight widgets all around you on visionOS.
I think this way to stay update to date.
Alright the TestFlight is up ^^ Right now it only supports the race watching, will try to add live timing integration after verifying the integration with the next few races.
Given the overlap of Vision Pro users and F1 watchers... I wonder if I should bother with submitting it through app review and deal with their BS 🙃
@kaplag That’s fair, though the interface paradigm for #visionOS is very much floating app windows in space. And lots of commentators are behaving as if a bigger display were the holy grail of computing. Yes, there is the opportunity for developers to offer bespoke alternatives, but so far it looks more of an evolutionary step than a revolution in how we interact with computers.
Like many developers I’m super excited about the Vision Pro. So today I am bringing my app @bridges as a native visionOS app 😊. If you save links for a weekly newsletter or a podcast you need Bridges.
This code is REALLY nicely written with discrete entities and systems for modeling the math needed for a convincing depiction
So I tore it apart to build a hologram inspired by #TheExpanse’s opening titles and futuristic 3D UI design, with hundreds of ships swarming the planet marked with their transponder codes
Okay, THIS is some science fiction shit right here!
Added controls to each marker to toggle orbit trails, along with gesture handling to move, scale and spin the system
It feels so COOL. We've barely seen the start of what's possible on this platform. This is a holographic interface, and Apple's abstractions make building in 3D so much more straightforward than I think most people have priced in so far.
Turns out that it is possible to load and play prime videos - thanks to some help from @khaost! I’ll be posting updates on this thread and hopefully if I run into any problems, someone will be kind and knowledgeable enough to help 🙏🏻😁.
Some progress moving away from overriding CSS values directly on the episodes list. This should make it less likely for an Amazon update to break the UI tweaks I made.
Taking longer than I would like since I don’t know javascript but I’m slowly getting the hang of it lol
It's not on visionOS like the rest of my timeline (yet?) but my latest small side-project is so far an iOS RSS reader with some News influences. Aiming for something to casually browse recent posts, without encouraging completionism using unread counts or badges.
Little nervous, but it’s time to TestFlight my RSS news reader for iOS & visionOS. It’s deliberately designed as a feed for stress-free, anti-completionist reading, without unread counts.
It's a little rough around the edges, and I'm not sure if anyone’s interested in this kinda of thing, but if you are, please give it a try! https://testflight.apple.com/join/bCe8UVrf
