AAMfP

@AAMfP@fosstodon.org

I like free software, Kanban and 改善.
I did wwwjdic and gravity Ruby gems.
I've done a Kanban metrics Calc spreadsheet called AAMfP, available on GNU Savannah.
I'm learning to be a proper Scrum Master after 20+ years as a SW developer and I'm creating a TypeScript/React Native App called TKCompanionApp available on F-Droid.

Everyone following me knows I'm writing and talking extensively about software testing. Sometimes, I think people might confuse me as a quality assurance specialist.

While I've done some QA work during my career, I'm still far from a specialist. Instead, I consider myself a business developer through means of well-crafted software. Tests — the automated ones, mind you — are merely a visible artefact of my work.

The reason I mention tests often should be apparent, but allow me to rehearse.

nikoheikkila,
@nikoheikkila@fosstodon.org avatar

Perhaps it's clear now why writing tests is crucial for business longevity.

🛂 It's clear: you want faster, easier travel across the EU.

68% of Europeans consider that the digitalisation of the travel documents is an important step to:

🔹 accelerate border checks,
🔹 increase security and
🔹 facilitate travelling to or from the Schengen area.

Our goal is to create a common standard for digital travel documents in the Schengen area, making travel hassle-free for everyone→ https://europa.eu/!3cwwwX

julianfairfax,

@budgetduurzaam @EU_Commission obviously they should just implant an RFID chip in us for even faster travel!

I mean, digitalisation can be good, but it has to be done right, and is so easy to do wrong. It should be open source, and transparent. And it should always be optional.

No internet connection at home until tomorrow, so I tried to do some work on the computer offline today, to avoid wasting my mobile data plan.

Dude, programming languages, package managers and SDKs these days are so little resilient to offline mode.

They create directories like ~/.npm, ~⁄.m2, ~/go/pkg, they fill them with junk, and then they go “SORRY, can’t use my local cache because there is no central server to tell me to use the local cache”

Happy you like the new releases. They carry huge improvements, even 5.0.2 vs. 5.0 is a change worth updating immediately.

I'm hearing about the unrealized potential of home automation, and it's true. There is unrealized potential.

The main reason it's potential, and also unrealized, is that for-profit companies have poisoned the "smart home" well with horribly insecure devices that are geared toward recording everything you say, do, and possibly even think.

Smart Homes have less trust than Unity does with its customers, and that's saying something given the scorched earth around Unity right now.

Artificial leather is very bad for human health and causes lots of cancer cases. There's nothing wrong with natural leather. Our ancestors used it for thousands of years. But now somebody has to be different.

i've forgetten how many times i googled for some technical terms, and only to find out that i've been blocked by Medium's paywall, asked me to purchase a membership halfway through reading. while i'm not opposed to paying for certain article(s), i still think it's an extremely toxic mechanism for search engines to allow such content to rank so high. and it's not quite the same as media (nytimes, etc).

tl,

To all the bloggers monetizing their articles with Medium: if you don't want to share something, then simply don't share it. in my opinion, publishing a half-hidden article is such a shitty business. articles should never be test-before-you-buy sharewares. if you post on Medium, you are destroying blog culture. and you should definately be aware of that.
