My most intense and fun Field Day ever, as FD coordinator for (18A setup this year.) I lost count of the hours weeks ago. Hard to believe it's over now...it will take days to recover from my biggest post-covid effort.

No idea how our QSO tally compares to other clubs (because it's not a contest blah blah blah) but we obliterated our score from last year. I had some ideas for the site plan this year that seemed to work and can be made even better next year.

    Spent the day with my family, doing a quick activation, and having a glorious seafood dinner in Holly Springs. (Hit me up if you're local and I'll tell you where).

    Unfortunately, I also spent the day coordinating our response to a major house fire with multiple fatalities. Particularly horrific and tragic incident, but we are here to take care of the families.

    This one's been a bit under the radar, but the US Conference of Catholic Bishops are moving ahead with plans to force Catholic hospitals to refuse any sort of gender affirming care, which would include maintenance doses of hormone therapy for emergency patients such as stroke victims who were unlucky enough to be brought to a Catholic hospital.

    I heard somewhere that crows are considered good luck. What of the murder of crows that stakes out the tree outside my bedroom window at 5 am? For weeks on end? If they were good luck, I would have hit the lottery five times over by now.

    Although, I have had a bit of a streak of good stuff happening lately....🤔

    @thenewoil In light of last week's DHS threat assessment highlighting ongoing threats to the power grid, I still argue it is wise for everyone to consider capabilities, especially (because it's cheap and easy) and (because it's so much more capable in an infrastructure emergency).

    Congress might get sat phones but how will you communicate?

    Meet Bear 32 Chunk

    Chunk (32) is an interesting bear. He's definitely a contender for the top bear at the falls. He's usually huge by Fat Bear Week. He can be aggressive but also plays with younger bears, which is unusual.

    But hey! A supposed “friend,” who didn’t even pay enough attention this week to notice I went to the ER for anything, wants me to see her (obviously unmasked) pics from a convention!

    @shayz0rz @hannu_ikonen I was in the ER last night as a patient. Appalled at how many times I had to ask caregivers, housekeeping,etc repeatedly (i.e, same person multiple times) to put on a damn mask in my room. Was my wearing an N95 not a clue?

    I have an ask of each of you.

    Saturday morning I suddely collapsed and lost consciousness. I apparently experienced sudden cardiac arrest.

    We don't know why yet. I didn't have a heart attack, stroke, or pulmonary embolus, and I don't have cardiomyopathy, heart failure, or any known heart disease.

    I tell you this because you never know when someone's life depends on you.

    My ask: get trained and stay current with training.
