@Green_Footballs The interesting thing is it gives permission for the media to cover the libertarian candidates just as much as they cover RFK. I doubt they will give them any oxygen, but it could end up undermining Trump.
@atomicpoet I’m curious, are pinball machines and their arcade game predecessors considered by the gaming community as part of the video game lineage? Or does the gaming community view the history of video games as only going back to the dawn of the computer age?
@atomicpoet I realize this is probably a lot like asking if games are sports. But growing up with video arcades that included space invaders, asteroids, pac man, and pinball machines, they all seem to be connected to me. Video game consoles were just an evolution from PC gaming, which were an evolution from arcades.
@darnell@darnell That is messed up. Although I do question why the family needed to prevent everyone from eating anything that could have nuts instead of simply wearing a mask. An N95 can easily block peanut dust. We are not talking about some type of microscopic virus. Regardless, the captain was out of line.
@StillIRise1963 pretty much how I feel every Memorial Day weekend. A holiday meant to remember those lost to war, and instead we use it to glorify and venerate. Somehow perpetuating that which we should be seeking to avoid.
“We see you haven’t voted yet. Your voting record is public,” a recent mailer to Texas Republicans says. “Your neighbors are watching and will know if you miss this critical runoff election. We will notify President Trump if you don’t vote. You can’t afford to have that on your record.”
The thing about a "strong" "leader"? Eventually you'll be the one targeted when things get desperate enough. No matter how much you think you are the kind of person who wouldn't be.
@futurebird you’re not wrong, but this tactic didn’t start with Trump. I don’t know when the first research came out that social pressure was a strong GOTV motivator, but 20 years ago when I was still doing campaigns the big GOTV operations were sending similar letters.
whenever i see a new little open hardware thing, i immediately begin the game of "are you actually a little indie guy, or are you an established company pretending to be a little guy?"
always a true delight to discover it's truly the former
@darnell seriously, if any part of your job ever involves you having to write a sentence blaming a nine-year-old for anything other than getting their hand caught in a cookie jar, reevaluate your life choices.
@StillIRise1963 just read about the SCOTUS decision. Worrisome is an understatement. These 6 justices are doing everything they can to undo all the progress of the last 70 years. Hell, some of them would prefer we go back to 200 years.
@evan you definitely have given me something to think about. I chose often, but I think that’s because I look at the social web more like a party. Yes, it is rude to respond to someone’s statement and completely ignore what was said and start something unrelated. But part of what makes conversation happen is the ebb and flow. If I were having a conversation in real life, I wouldn’t walk away from one conversation to start talking about a different subject they might be interested in
Discovered yesterday that Masto embeds do not work on our Drupal site -- as in they are not visible on the public facing page, although they appear fine in the back-end editor. Anybody here know what might be the issue? I embed other <iframe> stuff all the time and have never had this problem before. Any and all suggestions welcome. #FediHelp#drupal#mastodon
@GuerillaOntologist If you inspect the page do you see the embed code in the source and it is just not visible? Or is the iframe tag not even visible in the source?
@GuerillaOntologist Interesting. This feels to me like some type of CSS issue hiding it or something blocking the Mastodon.social embed.js. I tried on a sandbox on my end and it loaded just fine. In Inspector, under Sources, do you see the source for Mastodon.social and the embed.js file loading?
I serve on my HOA and our President just called me and essentially cussed me out because I'm having a Q&A for people who want to run to be on the board because, in her words, "You could have just told people to come to me" and "You didnt ask for anyone else's input" despite the fact that I did and she just never responded to my email about the idea.
