Whew we made it to the gate for our Aruba-London flight with half an hour to spare. I was convinced they were going to give us a hard time for checking in so late and I was really anxious about it, but it was fine. I now have a glass of Coke and a chocolate muffin so all is well

Ulysses by James Joyce is published.

Parts of it were 1st serialized in The Little Review, and the entire work was published in Paris by Sylvia Beach in 1922, Joyce's 40th birthday. Beach commissioned Darantiere in Dijon to print 1,000 numbered copies consisting of 100 signed copies on Dutch handmade paper, 150 numbered copies on vergé d’Arches paper, and 750 copies on handmade paper, plus an extra 20 unnumbered copies on mixed paper for libraries & press. @wikipedia

So, I have to go to a paint store today.
I don't know what to wear, I'm not sure what protocol is...

I was told to tell them Erick sent me, he has an account apparently, and they would know what to do.

My default stance in these situations is to find someone who seems annoyed to be there and shadow them...let's hope that plays well!

What shall I do this afternoon while Tom is at the rugby? I should try to finish the book I’m reading, it’s interesting but far from pacy, I’d say it’s more thought-provoking than actively enjoyable. There is very little dialogue (and what there is doesn’t use speech marks, which is a pet hate of mine in novels). I feel a bit bored and agitated
