Mastodon users shared my CPC post (thank you*), as did Bluesky users. There was even traction on LinkedIn. Threads? Not a sausage. Presumably they’re all Oric fans over there or something.

• Genuinely. Retro gaming articles do really inconsistent traffic on Stuff, and so the more eyes, the better. I’d like to be doing more pieces like this, but traffic needs to be sufficient to justify it.

Curiously, the C64 equivalent has been doing really well, but we’re not entirely sure why!

I wish major publications would stop quoting a certain insanely rich man verbatim about things like AI, and then providing no context and counterpoint about the reality of this tech. The notion AI will be smarter than humans next year is properly batshit thinking – unless you’re desperate to convince people of its worth and prop up your wobbling empire.

Tell me a silly/funny childhood story!

I'll start:

One time in Sunday School, the teacher was talking about the difference between humans and animals, and mentioned that Animals had Tails and humans didn't. I let her know this was not true, because my Dad had a tail, just in the front, instead of the back. The teacher was silent for several seconds, and tried to correct me in a church appropriate way, but I doubled down, and insisted that my little brothers also had front tails too. This got so heated that the teacher had to go get my parents to take me out of Sunday School.

I need to do some more exercise to close my Apple Watch rings. I’m supposed to jump on the static bike to do a workout called 30 minute club bangers, but I don’t think I can face it. Everyone, please stop saying, "Well, it's not actually AI..." every time someone does a post about AI. We all know what it is, that's just what it is called, and you're gonna have to deal with it. If we ever get actual AI we're gonna call it by whatever name it demands of us. I'm guessing Todd The Overlord, or something like that.
