    It really ought to be a criminal offence for any company^ to be packaging anything in polystyrene these days when better paper/card-based alternatives have been available for years.

    Easily one of the absolute shittest human inventions of all time. Even if it wasn't oil-based, it'd be shit: doesnt break down yet spreads fragments of statically charged, impossible-to-get-off crap absolutely everywhere.

    Sometimes I still sit here and think about how 3 years ago, scientists pulled off a fucking miracle of developing 3 brand new vaccines for a novel virus that had never had a vaccine for it before in like 6 months, scaled it out to produce billions of doses, and then like 40% of the country just said "nah".

    @JessTheUnstill @purplepadma My old school friend helped come up with a low cost ventilator. (The smug git in the photo). The design was hardly used. The companies said things such as “Its no longer needed ” (wrong).
    But he thinks it’s mainly because they couldn’t slap a patent on it.

    Do Bandcamp pay artists anything for streamed music that the listener hasn’t bought?

    I just found an album I really like (that I’ll probably wind up buying from Bandcamp anyway), but I wondered if me listening to it right now, before I buy it, will earn the artist more money on Bandcamp or Apple Music (because I have a paid subscription there)
