Does anyone use Wine anymore to regularly install and use Windows apps (Outlook, Teams, etc.) on Linux?

Asking for a friend.

Corvus,
@Corvus@fosstodon.org avatar

@btp StereoPhoto Maker runs great with Wine. There's no Linux replacement for this excellent application.

    We have unskippable commercials on streaming TV

    How soon they become un-mutable? 🔇

    Corvus,
    @Corvus@fosstodon.org avatar

    @nutjob4life We still subscribe to traditional cable TV. When our last cable box became deprecated our "upgraded" systen only hooks up to the cable modem with Ethernet (or wifi) and it's been flaky ever since. I never anticipated the level of fuckery it takes to make unskippable and unmuttable commercials but we upgraded to the hardware that makes it possible.

    Fuckers.

    Sorry, pardon my language.

    Fucking Fuckers.

    @grueproof @blob Total Gut Job of a perfectly serviceable home with all the resultant waste is offensive. Don't get me wrong, I watch HGTV but find it strange. What about all the shows for beach front homes without any commentary regarding sea level rise and increase in extreme weather. Maybe not "offensive" but at least negligent. Glorification of car-centric sprawl - you got it. So much wrong.

    @Tay0 @mike @fedops @indie1337_1 I'll be in Phoenix over December to visit family and scoped out the drive to Railport Brewery. I love driving but just can't devote the time for the round trip.
    I'll make it to Texas again one day.

    @grueproof current phone is 4 yrs old and hope for at least another 4 (assuming everything doesn't go to heck in a handcart). Works well with the Pinetime. Would love a Fairphone but will not give in to my consumer urges. I wish I could replace the camera on this Motorola but can replace the battery and upgrade memory when the time comes.

    I'm sure I've posted before about how much I appreciate as a citation manager. I now have over 600 references in about 30 categories from leaf segmentation using computer vision, through Manifestos, Tactile Graphics, and Whale Migration.
    Feel free to share links to your latest publications whether peer-reviewed articles, books of poetry, or datasets. I may not read them right away but I'll create a "Mastodon" folder for them in Zotero so I can access them anytime.
    Happy researching!

    This was recommended as a good concise response to the EU CRA on an OSGeo forum. I also found this to be an excellent measured plain language description of the potential impact of the CRA on FOSS.
