I just saw 's directed by Alex Garland and I'm pretty disappointed by the real lack of social or political commentary and the choice to paint war journalists as adrenaline junkies who seek sick thrills and don't care about the people and struggles they document.

Also highlighting that the movie really wants to believe that documenting atrocities doesn't matter.

Just the most dead brain liberal understanding of the dynamic of between why countries might descend into civil war and the most dead brain liberal answer of "how to stop creeping fascism/authoritarianism"

"A visually impressive exercise in saying nothing"

Absolutely no critical understanding of the political economy of the mass media.

Highly recommend "It Could Happen Here" if you want like an indepth socio-political analysis and plausible scenario of the next american civil war

@SomeGadgetGuy beautiful while vapid. Toothless would imply the movie has a mouth but id go so far as it has no mouth because it says nothing.

Amazing and effective cinematography, phenomenal acting, lacks any meaningful analysis and the closest we get to visual metaphor falls so flat on its face I'm almost offended I tried giving it meaning.

Hint: Jesse Plemons' character; it's not subtle and was a waste of a perfectly good setup.

Facing a huge rise of hearing loss in young adults and teens, it's up to us grownups to not only teach kids better listening habits, but also give them better audio tools.

I'm reviewing an inexpensive laptop from one of those super low cost budget PC brands, and yeah, the frame is generic, and the screen is just "good", and the sides are a bit creaky, but damned if I don't love how easy it is to pop open.

I don't think I called your credentials into question? But you didn't answer mine anyway.

If my car has an older engine but gets me where I need to go in the time I need to get there I should just junk the whole thing and buy a new one?

I think these evolutions are fantastic and amazing and as a tech enthusiast I love to play with and push the limits of new hardware don't get me wrong but repeating this idea of junking perfectly usable consumer tech every time some consortium publishes a new standard for data centers is disingenuous and unsustainable.

We can't even get fiber to home in the US I don't think mass market users will be feeling a noticeable difference between PCIe Gen 4 media and SATA 3. then taking into account how all these tech bubble companies are throttling their formerly free services now that they have to compete with non 1% interest rates and I'm hard pressed to see the need for major hardware upgrades that aren't planned obsolescence.

a little reminder that left, center and center left parties in Germany made up 52.3% of the vote in election that would lead to the appointment of you-know-who as chancellor.

@rexi

Hey more vote shaming! This is cool and rad! I sure love that we're vote shaming and not advocating for people to organize for political power.

It sure makes great sense that we're vote shaming and not getting upset the party you're vote shaming for is not instituting a policy agenda that would get their voters out! What's even better is they don't advertise all the things they do well when in power that would motivate people to vote and basically abdicate all narratives to their opposition because taking responsibility for their policy decisions is political or whatever

This is great we should continue to shame voters instead of motivating people to engage in the political process or organize ways to exercise political power

So great!
