Playing some Gold Mine Run by @reidrac on my Compaq Armada 1570D in DOS. Not DOSbox, not Windows, not any other strange configuration emulating some old machine, but just plain old MS DOS 6.22. Works nicely.

@janbeta Well I think I have a non-working one that I always wanted to tackle. Never did, though. Internal CD and FDD work, would need a new HDD and of course a look into it, as it does not start but emits a beep code instead. If that tickles your fancy, it's yours, postage also covered. Drop me a message if you're interested.

And, magically my old UVC HDMI capture is passing audio after I physically shutdown and disconnected my laptop from everything including its power supply. Battery never removed though.

The chips have arrived today from retro8bitshop.com and I installed them in the after work.
They work like a charm and my is now made from 99% new parts.

Got lucky and managed to order a used copy of Defender of the Crown from that limited official release by Cinemaware Retro via AtariAge a few years ago. It's basically the Atari ST version with an orchestral soundtrack.

I just uploaded my updated edition of Clipped Claws on the Internet Archive. It includes corrections and additional information after a conversation with Rob Lodes, composer at Atari at that time, as well as an appendix with all press releases I found about the Jaguar. This makes a total of 526 pages, whereby the appendix already makes up almost 200 pages alone. The page preview on the Internet Archive is not updated yet, but if you download the PDF, you will get the newest version.

After having watched a Computer Chronicles special on Gary Kildall, I find it hard to believe that there is not a single book out there to dive deeper into the history of this fascinating guy and all the things he brought to life. The only thing so far is a fragment of a memoir he wrote before his death. So noone ever considered this a topic worth writing about, even in the 80s and 90s? Consider me flabbergasted.

Fun fact: The Arcade Collection is the only game that eventually resulted from the multi-million-dollar lawsuit between Sega and Atari and the agreement to publish games on the respective competitor's hardware. Wish instead (or on top of that) that any Sega game made the leap over to the Jaguar 😅🤷

@RetroWizzard The lawsuit was over some patent, not about games - sorry for the confusion, that did not come across as intended. But part of the deal was that they would release games on each others consoles. Turned out to be a very lose declaration of intent, though 😄 And when this one came out, Atari was basically burried anyway 💩
