Today is Tuesday, which means I spent a good chunk of the day at home, which means... #CrowUpdate and a very special one, entirely focused on Baby Crow!!!

I saw it not once, not twice, but three times today!

First, while giving peanuts to Mom, I heard him in the tree nearby. It stayed this way for a little while. I'm not sure if it wanted to jump to the branch close by or if it was looking at Mom collecting the peanuts. Maybe both?

This morning.
Picture one: Who's this?
Picture two: Oh... Hello there...

Baby is out of the nest, finally.
However, while the picture is dark, its beak and eye are darker than if it had just come out, so I suspect it's been in and out of the nest for a few days probably (although, it's surprising I didn't notice it) or it just stayed in the nest longer than usual (maybe)

Baby crow has left the nest and his hanging out on a branch nearby.

In the US, some people call natural disasters "Acts of God." As they're usually the same ones who don't believe or don't care about the climate crisis, have they been wondering why God is so fucking mad at them these days?
and a shout-out to today.

Mini . The crazy winds of yesterday broke branches, destroyed the last remains of an old nest, and probably delayed baby crow making its first steps into a larger world, but no damage was done to family or their nest. I saw Mom and Dad briefly this morning, but this evening returning home, they were both standing on guard at each end of the park and baby was hanging out in the nest, quite visible now.

Enjoy (there are three pics here and one video next)

Oh, I forgot to post it last night. Mini #CrowUpdate:

Baby crow is almost ready to venture outside the nest.

(Yes the structure of the nest is made of coat hangers. Crows have invented sustainable nests that can be reused several years in a row)

Now, there is crazy unseasonal wind today, so I hope it's hanging tight to the nest and it delays its first adventure for later.

And here it is, the very first picture of Baby Crow. Do you see it?

(and yes, this side of the nest is almost only old coat hangers, they last longer than wooden twigs)

Mr. Crow says "good morning" so mini :
Both Mr. and Ms. Crow have been extremely friendly this morning (I'm working from home today) they approached me closer than before (They didn't even fly away when I exited the house and they happened to be near the door.) Maybe the last remnant of fear they had about me vanished when I helped them chase the cat in the park two days ago?

Baby is still hanging out in the nest, I caught a glimpse of it.

Long overdue So yeah, I haven' given any news about the because the past two weeks were some confusing times. I saw them every day, but they always were either far or in a rush, and quite tense (they wouldn't approach me much). Their behavior would greatly vary from one day to the other and I couldn't tell why.
Of course, it had to be related to the nest. While on the other side of the neighborhood, three fledglings are coming out of their nest, here, mystery. (1/?) ๐Ÿงต โคต๏ธ

Three baby #crows on a tree, wondering why this human stops and looks at them whereas most other humans around are not even aware of their existence.

I feel like I'm talking like a recovering addict, but most of my friends (my offline friends, but who live on the other side of the planet) are still all on (and never settled here) and with Facebook becoming unusable, I talk with them less and less, and well... I miss them... I went to my Twitter account today, and they were all there and I don't know what to do. Should I reactivate an account there and have it private or something? I don't want to, though. Why can't they come here?

Dear neighborhood community leader,
You're a very nice guy, but is the leafblower on a Sunday afternoon, really that necessary? Or a leafblower at all? These dead leaves belong to the ground where they fell (and their goal is to fertilize it) not in an incinerator.

#CrowUpdate When was the last one? More than a week probably. Here is the thing, the weather being nicer, there are almost always people in the park at the moment, so it's rarely quiet enough for the #crows to come down. The last time I spent some sort of time with Mr. Crow was about a week ago, and he was not too keen on approaching me. And also, it's a very busy and stressful time for the crows too, probably the busiest and most stressful time of the year.

I only briefly see the these days but they come daily to get the peanuts on my balcony and my yard. The thing is that the park is often crowded in the late afternoon when I return from work, and with Mr. Crow injured and Ms. Crow spending time in the nest, they don't hang out much in the empty park in the morning. Today was interesting, though (pics are from last week, I didn't have my camera).

When I got home, I saw crows chasing an eagle near my home. (๐Ÿงต โคต๏ธ )

Short : I've seen Ms. Crow quite a bit for the past three days, but she's always in a hurry. Also Mr. & Ms. Crow call each other with their "come quick, hurry" call as soon as food is found.
It can only mean one thing: BABY CROWS!!!! right? right?

Sakura update from across the street: not yet, not yet.

Although, this year it seems like a mess. While the "standard sakura" are not in bloom yet, some other rarer species are almost done already.

: I went to the park to see the nest situation and Mr. Crow.
I couldn't find Mr. Crow on a tree, but Ms. Crow was hanging out in last year's nest, so I assume they're fixing it (it'll probably be less work). She saw me and came down, and Mr. Crow showed up out of nowhere.
Peanuts were given and they were not afraid to get quite close to me (we were in another part of the park, not sure if it's relevant).

Quick
I saw Mr. Crow tonight. He seems in "good spirits." He came down "his" tree to get peanuts. He can't fly though. He hopped from a low branch to a not-as-low branch, etc. to hide back in his tree.
Both he and Ms. Crow are not roosting and staying in their tree tonight.
Ms. Crow has started to build a nest.
If he can heal before she lays eggs (or if they can recruit an older kid to help - crows do that sometimes) maybe things will be fine.
Keeping fingers crossed.
