#Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) will withdraw the state from particip in CA’s tough auto emissions standards at end of this year, using opinion from Virginia AG Jason S. Miyares (R) as justification for undoing an action taken by Gen Assembly.
“Once again, Virginia is declaring independence — this time from a misguided electric vehicle mandate imposed by unelected leaders nearly 3,000 miles away from the Commonwealth” https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/06/05/youngkin-virginia-auto-emissions-california/
“#Georgia Court of Appeals temporarily halted proceedings in #Trump case while it reviews a trial judge's ruling that allowed Fulton County District Attorney #FaniWillis to continue prosecuting the case.
The stay issued by the court applies only to Trump and the eight co-defendants who sought to have Willis and her office removed from the case because of an improper relationship she had with Nathan Wade, who served as a special prosecutor” #legal
Well, as much as I would like to blame Republican schemes, this was an unforced error as far as I've read. (Which isn't much. I have not been tracking this issue).
“10-year-old brought a loaded handgun to Glassell Park Elementary school on Tues. No one was injured in the incident. …The weapon was a loaded .40-caliber Glock 22 that had been reported stolen. The gun recovery reflects an alarming increase of "weapons incidents" and fights at Los Angeles Unified schools amid demands from many parents for more police and security after the school board slashed the police budget four years ago.” #guns
“The gas giant #Gazprom, which has been an engine of Russia's economy, will pay a decadelong price for Russian leader Vladimir #Putin's invasion of #Ukraine.
The U.K. newspaper Financial Times reported Wednesday that it had seen research commissioned by the energy group's leaders that predicted Gazprom probably will not be able to recover for years the gas sales it lost due to the war started by Putin.” https://www.newsweek.com/gas-gazprom-putin-war-costly-impact-1908467
“Some of #Tesla's institutional shareholders are getting out, convinced that the electric carmaker's days of dizzying growth are in the rear-view mirror.
Lawyers for #Trump asked the judge overseeing his criminal hush money case to terminate the gag order against the former president, saying it’s no longer justified since the trial is over.
@GottaLaff Defense: "Now that my client has been found guilty, facing a sentence that will be largely determined at your discretion based in large part on the degree to which he shows remorse and good conduct, we would like permission for him to make intimidating, aggressive statements toward those involved in the case against him, on the public record."
Prosecutor: "Um, sure!"
Yes, I marched/got tear-gassed for peace and continue to fight against wars. On Americans? Not sure which ones you’re referring to. But I’m a peacenik.
President #Biden goes 'there' at a fundraiser in CT: "For the first time in American history, a former president that is a convicted felon is now seeking the office of the presidency."
"Something snapped in this guy for real" after 2020. "It's literally driving him crazy."
The bummer for many is that the smaller cell companies utilize the AT&T lines; when the interruptions occur, it impacts many more users than just AT&T. I have found T-Mobile to be the most reliable of late. JMHO for what it's worth.
@GottaLaff I heard from a poll worker that they are having an unexpectedly large voting turnout in our area, including an unusually high number of people declaring a party affiliation.
Fox Business is preemptively attacking justices on the New York appeals court who might hear the #Trump case, putting up their photos and detailing their political affiliations #ClusterFox
Yeah they sd 20 of 21 justices appointed by Dem. governors. Since 1/1/1975 there's only been 1 GOP NY gov: Pataki 1995-2006.
Pictured white female justice w/ her donations to Dems: $2000 Schumer in 1998; $1725 Hillary 2000; $250 Howard Dean 2003.
Trump gave to Hillary more recently than Justice did: $4900 btwn 2002-2005. Not counting $100,000 to Clinton Foundation. In 2006 25,000 to Dem Sen. & Congress campaign committees; $1K to GOP Sen campaign
