Anyone anything good at the moment? I'm still on my PSP kick playing MGS Peace Walker which I think is going to keep me busy for a while. Especially as I'm not great at it ๐Ÿ˜ถ.

So happy I picked up a PSP again though. Such a fun console. I maaayyy have also bought Silent Hill Origins. I think that's probably all the games that I definitely want for it, but any suggestions of hidden gems that I should look out for?

@Hundstrasse@retro.pizza avatar

@jaykass niiice! It's not a series I know much about, but I understand it's a classic!

@Bogusmeatfactory pretty different, but good variety! I think I've played a little of the first legacy of Kain, but really not much. Maybe I should look into it. What's making it enjoyable?

Forgot to post this yesterday. Currently working through the Pikuma NES dev course, progress is coming along well. I know enough to create individual backgrounds now, which is neat ๐Ÿ‘

@dinosaurgerms so cool! Looks like it's going well! ๐Ÿ˜

Three new pickups at today's car boot sale. Three that I've been trying to get hold of for some time ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅฐ

What about, handheld console that uses floppy discs?

Hundstrasse,
@Hundstrasse@retro.pizza avatar

@kiwired yes! And it's pretty cute! I was kind of thinking more like those early digital cameras that took a floppy disc... But a handheld. I want to feel the whirring of a drive reading!

people, how do you feel about the slidey thumbstick? ๐ŸŽฎ

Hundstrasse,
@Hundstrasse@retro.pizza avatar

@rootcompute oh no ๐Ÿ˜• that sucks ๐Ÿ˜ž.

Hundstrasse,
@Hundstrasse@retro.pizza avatar

@rootcompute yeah, I was going to ask if it's possible to repair. I've never tried any PSP maintenance.

Steam Deck is a great emulation system though! ๐Ÿ˜

@rootcompute recipe for my signature move of ".. oh, I'll just open this up and...* TTWAANNGGG!! .. bits everywhere ๐Ÿ˜…

Try to remember to post pics if you ever get around to it, would like to know what's going on in there.

@orbitalmartian but... But... It's the only handheld with an optical drive!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Hundstrasse,

@ch1pset I think the 'resistance' feels off. Could be my fine motor control, but the force to move it away from the mid position tends to just push it to a limit when I use it ๐Ÿ˜…

@semiramis eeeep! I'm really worried about how many people have mentioned drift now ๐Ÿ˜ณ

@dinosaurgerms I was about to be all like "Dang, that planet is full of fire!"... And then I realised that OUR planet is full of fire.

It's a title screen that works on multiple levels... ๐Ÿ˜ถ

@dinosaurgerms I know so little about top down shootemups it's embarrassing! (Except for once falling in love with a Capcom car cocktail unit of one of the 1940 something games) Like, is there lore to this? Is there a plot? The bosses are so elaborate I kind of feel like someone must've spent a long time thinking about it all.

After Metal Gear Acid 2, I wanted something a bit less brain for my times, so threw in SSX on Tour which I picked recently.

I was kind of expecting just a straight port attempt, but it's a weird hybrid which has so far only featured courses from SSX3. The slimmed down control scheme is fine, but they stuck with the generic "build your own player" with very limited customisation. Kind of wish they'd gone back to specific characters like in 3.

Just watched the credits roll on Metal Gear Acid 2 on . Definitely preferred the first one, I think no. 2 somehow diluted the gameplay. Chain linked cards always seemed to catch me off guard, and whilst upgrades for cards is a sensible Idea, it just seemed to make deck sorting kind of hard work. Didn't really mix it up for the whole game. Still enjoyed it though!

CW: Metal Gear Acid 2 ending spoilers

@troublewithwords I thought that they were both enjoyable. The turn based combined with cards and deck building works really well, especially as a handheld title.
