I had the worst night’s sleep and now I can’t sleep any more at 6.30am. I was looking forward to a lie in since it’s a bank holiday, but body and brain say no. Bah

@purplepadma I hope you have an easy and restful day.

@spinning @fibrearts I’ve also chain plied some other fibre. Forgive my very detailed description 😂

@spinning @fibrearts I’ve been plying this evening at work.

Got panicky last night but instead of letting it build I took some emergency meds. Tried watching TV to distract while they kicked in, but it was a very tense police procedural and it just made me anxious. After panic then diazepam I fell asleep early and was out like a light for a couple of hours. Then I woke up and I’ve been awake since, tossing and turning. I’m not anxious or fretting about anything, just… very awake. Might read my lovely fantasy novel for a while

@purplepadma what is your book?

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@purplepadma I don't know that author or the books. I might have to have a look. Work is mercifully "q". I'm just pootling at the moment. Spinning and plying. Nothing exciting.

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@purplepadma it absolutely is. Although my wheel is all electric baby!

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@purplepadma I mean that can happen. Although if I could spin gold, I wouldn't need to work and then I wouldn't be here and then you wouldn't know I could spin gold ....

Doing well this evening, managed to watch some TV after dinner. A better end to the day than beginning.

@purplepadma I missed the beginning but this sounds like a lovely evening.

@purplepadma some running?! Jesus you're phenomenal. I'm working for another 9 nights covering for my night oppo. xx

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@purplepadma it's really not. A lot of it, I'm sitting down for. Actually Kr5isitina and I had a chat this morning about possibly attempting C25K in June. A manic light came on in her eyes so I'm probably going to have to do it now. I'm just spinning some random 100g bumps of fibre. Partly to use free some space, partly for a sweater designed to use them. I'll take some pictures in a bit.

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@purplepadma that's a really good aim. I've done it before and then work/mental health etc stopped me going to the gym so I understand the need for a gentle route. I have Sarah (Millican) cheer me on. When she says I've done well, I really feel she means it.

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@purplepadma I remember one day, I'd done a tough C25K run and the chap next to me turned and said "Well done Laura". I thought it odd but smiled and nodded. It was only later I realised that as I was getting to the end of the run, I must have been muttering "Come on Laura" who was the voice that told me my run was done and I could walk. He must have thought I was encouraging myself.

Miraculously my anxiety has been minimal tonight. I did nothing different to any other weekend day. I wish it could be like this more often

@purplepadma its weird how these things work out. I'm glad you're feeling ok and hope you sleep well. xx

@spinning Last night’s 100g finished and plied. This is “Singer” from Hilltop Cloud. I can’t remember the blend but there was something a bit toothy in it.

Tunisian - a new rabbit hole?

I learned the basics in the 1970ies, but didn't do much with it. A pillow cover a few years ago was a bit of a fiasco, so again, I put it away.

But today I saw this (which I mistook for a KAL initially).

https://knitterknotter.com/tunisian-blanket-cal-2024-hexagons-designed-by-cal-participants/

I now I want to try again - but with less splitty yarn than last time. And with much more attention to keep an even gauge.

@zaivala @FanCityKnits @crochet @fiberarts it usually means crochet along. KAL is knit along. A group of people crochet the same pattern over the same period of time.

The other day, I was incredibly fortunate to witness the return of a seasonal visitor to our shores. Whilst it is a little early to catch a glimpse of these shy creatures, its presence does herald warmer weather. They can be identified by their bright plumage and distinctive mating call. As we move into summer, their young become independent, increasing their number before migrating to the southern hemisphere.

Finished another sweater! This one is the Save The Bees sweater by EweFeltyThing -- great pattern! I made it in three colors of Miss Babs Yowza. I made it once, gave it to the recipient, and didn't like how it fit her. So I made her a second one in slightly different colors, adjusting the fit and edging, and I'm much happier with this one, though I don't know if she'll notice. For those who use ravelry, it's at https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/save-the-bees-sweater . @knitting

@fibrearts My spinning for tonight is glorious. It was a gift from my sister and is from Crafty Cat Fibre. It’s grey Corriedale so it’s going out with a dark undertone which I love. Especially because it’s coming out as a dark rainbow ❤️🌈

Fibre spun on a bobbin as a single In rainbow colours.

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@bookedhooker @KatyKnits @fibrearts I love the colours so much! (My sister has excellent taste!). And it spins like a cloud.
