Y'all I guess I should start getting my questions from Quora!

@RickiTarr I'm pretty sure you can't skydive if you're under the influence which is the only reason a baby would be talking.

@fibrearts @crochet I'm attempting to improve my crochet skills and have decided to make a blanket of granny squares using different styles, stitches techniques. Does anyone have any recommendations or links for books, patterns, resources etc? There are no wrong answers. I really want to learn as wide a variety as possible. Even if it's not a "granny" square pattern, I want to fins ways of making things work.

Today’s card is Seven of Birds. There are obstacles ahead and it is ill advised to approach haphazardly. Learn from the birds, plan accordingly and the path to the other side will be much easier. I need to give this one some thought.

I'm starting to get excited about some things. Tomorrow marks the midway point for this set of shifts and I'm thinking of how I'm going to spend my first few days doing not very much. What bliss. I've got some good food to enjoy and I might treat myself to some soothing teas to enjoy. I'm fantasizing about being under all the blankets.

Today's theme is Normal!

You can take this test to see how "Normal" you are, and also how radically left wing you are! LOL Please share the results if you feel like it, or do nothing at all, because it really doesn't matter!

@RickiTarr this threw up some surprises.

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@RickiTarr any level of right wing was a bit of a surprise but that may have been things that I was "meh" about or "it depends on the context" because my brain will just find loopholes. And so much more "male" but then I'm very practical and pragmatic so maybe that's deemed to be "more male". It doesn't bother me, I'm just intrigued.

I was knitting my new Advent blanket and decided I don't want another blanket. I want two garments. Fortunately I was still knitting Day 1 so it's been frogged. The problem now is that I may not have anything to knit for the rest of my shift (6 hours)

This was in today's NYT about the healing power of knitting and crochet. And the little animated film is amazing. A gift link: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/26/opinion/knitting-healing.html?mwgrp=a-dbar&unlocked_article_code=1.I00.DAGo.Ytz_9UZcbsPY&smid=url-share

I can't knit and explore Ravelry at the same time!! How am I supposed to work out my next WIP when I'm working on my current one?!

This morning when I got home, I weighed the yarn I have left to knit. 77.76g. 💪

@knitting as promised, this is the cowl for Husbeast.The yarn is called Arrakis and is inspired by Dune, so has some sparkle to it and he requested the YO pattern I used for a previous cowl. I kind of muffed up the first slant section because I should have done k2tog not ssk but I can’t be arsed to reknit it. He won’t care so I’m going to let it go. Especially because I want it done by next Friday 😂😂😂

These are all the mini skeins I have left to knit into my Solar System blanket. It's starting to get exciting!

As I knit, my mind drifts and I'm starting to think about my Year of Strength. Just 26 days until it all starts and I have my diary/journal and I've been sticking random stickers in it for my future self to find and rediscover. I've set my tasks for January (morning pages, a card a day, yoga every day and something else) and I'm getting a little bit excited. .

@knitting @Curator @nature I seem to have hit a patch of sadness for no apparent reason in the middle of my shift. Please share cheerful, bright, happy things. They can be sarcastic cartoons, photos of nature, beautiful art, knitting, abstract weirdness, anything. I just need a perk up please.

@knitting This is my in a solar system inspired colourway. It’s really unwieldy but I’m so close to finishing. These are the skeins for Pluto in the order I want to knit them in. I’m at the final chevron section and I think I might have more yarn than I need so I’m thinking about how I might finish the edge. Oh and it’s an icord edge. 😂

@knitting Knitting is amazing. When I was knitting my Slipstravaganza blanket before, I was starting to find the sheer quantity of stitches tiresome. Endless purl felt like a slog. After months of brioche, it now feels joyful. 😂

@knitting another Fo off the needles and hook. This is the blanket made from leftovers from the Triple Advent blanket. All the edging has been done and ends woven in.

Day 2 of

Today, I'm sharing a project that got stalled and I hope to come back to it eventually.

This one is created with code, inspired by Chemistry and Physics. I create my particles and let them 'bounce around'. As they collide, they 'draw' traces, and so the image slowly develops. In this piece, I'm constricting the spaces the particles can play in to rectangles that look like they could be a quilt.

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@kristinHenry I love these so much! They definitely seem textile-y to me. They make my brain fizzy with ideas. ❤️

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@kristinHenry I’m fascinated by the chemistry and physics that inspired you.

@meshe @SuzyShearer @knitting tbl - through the back loop, so purl trough the back loop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOHAqYFjvUM

M1L - make 1 left. Increase by 1 stitch and that stitch leans to the left. Really useful in raglan sleeves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaYnJ0Z8c4k

@knitting This is the first WIP I have with me this evening that I’m hoping to finish. This is a granny square that was made from the leftovers of my Triple Advent blanket that I’ve decided to add an icord edge to. I’ve got just under 2 edges left.

KatyKnits,
@KatyKnits@mastodon.social avatar

@Drachin @knitting yep. That ting is my blanket and that has been crocheted. I'm adding an icord edge and that's being knitted.

Yesterday I started my advent knitting for this year (it never ends!) but I’ve put it aside for today (and the next few days to get some things done. First is the icord edge for my massive granny square blanket. Then sew buttons on the Husbeast cardigan (which I finally blocked the other day.
