Went for a quick test ride on the Gwencycle (my new-to-me-shitty-$60 bike) and it's nice to know the bit about never forgetting how is very true, haven't been on a bike in 15 years? Maybe longer?

It's going to take me some time to get used to riding on a bike this big (27"), and hard turns are going to take a lot of practice.

The shifters are shit. Sorry, they just are. I think I want to replace the handlebars and the shifters both if I keep this particular bike. (currently unemployed, can't replace atm)

The bike chain lube I got worked great, everything goes spinny just right, like me in a skirt.

Had a minor spill right at the end, as I tried to stop in my backyard and hit a hose I couldn't turn fast enough to miss. Gonna give my knee a day or two to heal up just in case before I get back on it.

But the big thing is, it works and it's fun to ride! Yay!

My toxic hot take is that I straight up do not understand the fascination with Quentin Tarantino or his work.

He's at best an admitted hack, copying other directorial styles (and sometimes whole entire movies!) and then offering up a milquetoast, watered-down mashup version of them. At worst he's straight up crapping all over the art of visionaries much more talented than he ever will be. And none of that is even touching on how much of a trash human he actually is in real life. This isn't even a case of separating the art from the artist. Both art and artist are total shitbags.

So much "no, it specifically has to be the expensive brand" or "I can't eat it once it turns brown". So many "coffee" events where I can only drink water.
